The granite slabs were delivered in the heat of the summer in mid-August. Four months later, the last of the signs were finally hooked up to electricity and illumination lighting turned on. This proj- ect was one of many grants the town has received from Arizona Depart- ment of Transportation for road enhancements. Quartzsite Town Manager, Alex Taft explains, "The Gateway Signs are designed to celebrate the history of Quartzsite, with the reference to camels, and the pyramid is in reference to Hi Jolly Monumnet, which is now on the National Register of Historic Places."
