Page 28 www.DesertMessenger.com Christmas Dinner Thrift store helps with by Joanne Winer The Quartzsite Community Thrift Store was very happy to be able to give out another check this month, this time to help Isa- iah 58 Project with their annual Christmas dinner for the needy. Volunteers Juanita (Tinker) Cor- nell and Margaret Fogle (also a board member) along with my- self presented a check to Pastor Mike and Linda Hobby to help them get the things they need for the dinner. The store has been very lucky to have so many community supporters who have do- nated items or shopped in the store to help them raise money to give to other service groups in need in the town. They will also help the children get to camps this year and do other things for the kids through the schools. Every donation helps meet these goals, and they really appreciate everyone who has brought things in. There is an old saying--volunteers never get paid--not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless!! This is the way we feel about the ladies and men who give their time to help the store--we could not do it without them and these donations would not be possible if not for their dedication and hard work. We are proud to be able to help those in need in our community so they can help others too. 20% OFF* since 1977 20% OFF* COUPON RV ROOF RESEAL SPECIAL RV Roof Seals Done Right *20 % OFF Labor thru end of the year with this ad! Our mission is to prevent drug and alcohol misuse and abuse in our community. With the help of many local civic, community leaders, and concerned citizens we have gathered much needed informa- tion about our communities needs to prevent the misuse of drugs and alco- hol in our community. The QSAPC started the "Dump the Drugs" location at our local police sta- tion, located at 305 N. Plymouth Rd. for anyone to take their expired and unused medications for proper dis- posal. To date we have collected 148 pounds of prescription and over the counter medications. The QSAPC holds a FREE Movie night each month (except December) to give the families and other mem- bers of the community opportunity to have a "Family Night". If you would like to join our meetings, The QSAPC meets every 3rd Thursday at the After School building located just north of the Town Hall at 10am.
