Page 4 Thank you TOPS! Thank you TOPS 0078 for the card, pin and kind words. Without your support and encouragement i wouldnt have made it over a year without missing one meet- ing. Not to goal :( weight but i hope to be a KOPS soon. Glenda Kae Hines Quartzsite Not for or against I am acting-Activity Chairperson for Quartzsite Senior Center. I have stayed out of politics. Last week I've was forced to handle problems to protect the center so I am now speaking out. The first group called Americans for Prosperity placed an ad in two papers for an event at the Senior Center. I told Doug Gilford that the event could not happen due to scheduling conflicts before the ad was published. The second was the QPOA. Steve told Wayne (President of Senior Center) the fund raiser would benefit the Quartzsite Police Department. Having stayed out of politics we thought this group was part of the police department. We found out we were wrong. On December 10th around 11 am the radio station running an advertise- ment for the event stated it was to support the Quartzsite 8. Wayne found a flier stating it was for QPOA legal fund. He got no answer at ei- ther of the contract contact numbers while trying to find a solution to make everyone satisfied. I finally told Wayne I have the fi- nal say, I am cancelling the dinner. Trying once more to get someone I reached Wil. We invite you to not only see a problem, but www.DesertMessenger.com told him who I was and I needed to talk to Steve. He said Steve would call me. When Steve called I told him I am cancelling the dinner. I told him he had misrepresented who would benefit from the fund raiser. Money will be refunded. Rita Wilson, Quartzsite Thanks, Rueben! I think that's the name of the efficient, smiling, nice guy who works so hard to get a bunch of harried folks through the holiday crazies that we endure every year at the post office. Kuehn #22 Next to Bad Boys Cafe 208-431-0111 December 21, 2011 Kathy of Kathy's Headhunter Thank you wonderful clients of Kathy's Headhunters, now known as Headhunters II. The past eleven seasons in Quartzsite has been some of the most memorable times in my 43 years as a hairdresser because of you, our many wonderful clients. You chose us to be your stylists and for that I feel truly blessed. I've had many good laughs with you and through the loss of my daughter your prayers, hugs and support carried me through the most difficult time in my life. God Bless each one of you for a caring heart. It was not an easy decision to retire but due to health reasons it was necessary. I am doing much better now that I am not working. Congratulations and thanks to Wilma, her dream of owning a salon came true. Thanks also to my wonderful funny friend Linda. Linda is also taking great care of our clientele and our newest member Lois who has been a stylist for many years. It makes it so much easier retiring knowing these three wonderful women will take special care of our clients. So I say thank you once again and I will see you all soon somewhere here in our wonderful Quartzsite. Happy Holidays and God Bless each one of you. Love, Kathy Zimbelman Donation box This is how things get FLIPPED in Quartz- site. Everyone should hear both sides of ev- ery story! The NEW management at Times Three Family Restaurant had the donation box [for animal shelter] on the counter for a week or 10 days. Then we had complaints from customers as to why WE were collect- ing money for a shelter that was closed. I Desert Messenger @DesertMessenger told the man that came in to collect the mon- ey, we were having complaints about the box being on the counter. He told me they were still taking care of cats at the shelter and still needed donations to take care of them. We said we would try again. Again, more com- plaints! Because there are only TWO boxes in TOWN, why could you not have made a new header for the box that said you were still taking donations till all pets are adopt- ed? But then NO story, RIGHT. By the way, why were there only two boxes in town when we have what over 100 busi- ness in Quartzsite? I work at Times Three but I had Arizona Trade Co. for 15 years, and every year we donated to everyone in town. The last 3 years have donated to the animal shelter. WE HAVE CATS. So please don't make us the BAD guys. Thank you, Cena Beene, Quartzsite Resident Confused There is a 'group' in Quartzsite that calls itself QPOA, which I have been told stands for 'Quartzsite Police Officers Association'. But it appears that the people who lost their jobs with the Quartzsite Police De- partment are the members, but they are no longer Police Officers. So how can they be part of the group? These people are no longer Police Officers. This group recently attempted to rent the Senior Center to raise money for a 'defense fund' (check Supporters of Foster's Face- book). Did they misrepresent themselves by using the term 'Police Officer'? And what is this defense fund? Who has taken legal action against them? It seems that this group is really raising money to use to file legal action against the town. This is not defense, but offense. I am confused. I feel sorry for anyone who has lost their job. I have been there and it is a terrible feeling. It is miserable thing to go through, BUT the fastest way is to go find another job and forget the past job. Learn from it, do not make the same mistakes; ask better questions about your new job, and so on. To the men and women who lost their jobs: I am sorry and hope and pray that you will find new employment soon. How you handle leaving this job will follow you. I know that from my own experiences. Walk away, learn what you can from the experience and find a new job. Skip Gallup, Quartzsite SEE LETTERS ON PAGE 5 We're here for the season!
