MEDICINE CARDS Radical honesty is my only response when people ask me what I think of Quartzsite, but how do I put into words this place that I have chosen to live out the rest of my life? Here's how some citizens put their words into action… The Arizona Centennial Committee is raf- fling off a gorgeous patchwork quilt depict- ing various desert scenes. The owner of Hardies Beads & Jewelry bought a raffle ticket with the deliberate intent to donate the earth-tones quilt to our local library for all the public to enjoy. Bronze statues of happy children are do- nated regularly by a citizen who wishes to remain anonymous, and dozens of people every day are volunteering their time in our community. What makes Quartzsite so special is the "admiration" flow of energy and harmoni- ous pride born of daily camaraderie. Singer Barbara Streisand said it best when she belted out those words, "People who need people are the luckiest people in the world." On the other hand the word heel has more than one meaning; one of which is, "A con- temptible, dishonorable or irresponsible person." There is another old saying," Time wounds all heels."
