December 21, 2011 www.DesertMessenger.com here in the desert or come for a short visit. Either way, they've grown to love each one of us and desire to give their best performance ever this year. In 2003 and 2004 you may remem- ber the Desert Opry Tent where they brought their friend Barbara Fairch- ild from Branson out here to perform nightly, while Ron and Opal performed their show each afternoon during those two years. They have also been a part of the Southern Baptist revival each year for the last several years and were performers during the Assembly of God Camp Meetings here in Quartzsite. Ron has a brand new comedy spot in Ron and Opal return to Quartzsite If you've been coming to Quartzsite, AZ for any time at all, you know the name Ron and Opal Erickson. Ron and Opal are three time recipients of the Country Gospel Music Assoc Inter- national DUO OF THE YEAR. Though they make their home near Branson, MO, they travel the USA sharing their country music classics, and southern/ country style gospel music seasoned with spontaneous comedy all year long. Yes, once again Ron and Opal will be right here in the Quartzsite area for just a few limited engagements. If you've seen them in the past, or have not yet had the opportunity, don't miss this year. Ron says "We plan to make this our farewell tour of the variety show this year, but still plan to continue per- forming some gospel concerts in the coming years.". They may be back in future years to join us in our jams, or do a special gospel concert now and then, but overall, they are ready to join the rest of us in retirement as "Snow- birds". They first came to Quartzsite in 2000 and fell in love with the won- derful folks from all over the USA and Canada that make their winter home the show this year that he's never done before, as well as most of the songs they sing will be ones they've never before performed here in Quartzsite.
