M 2, 2011  LETTERS FROM PAGE 4 KEEP TOWN HEALTHY AND STRONG A great web of greed and avarice is surrounding Quartzsite. It is tightening and slowly choking the vitality of the town. A great town with so much to offer for so many. The web has been spawned by a very small segment of the varying population. A segment made up of misfit malcontents, more vocal than mannerly. Webs are formed for the unwary and uninformed as a trap. The trap is laid for the most gullible minds that don’t think about the inevitable consequences. Commonly known as fall-out. People of Quartzsite are we so careless in our thinking, we don’t care if we falter or fail. I say, “Let’s charge ahead and keep this unique town healthy and strong. Reject those bent on destruction!” VOTE AGAINST THE COALITION CANDIDATES. Keep our strong Council! Elmer London, Quartzsite TRUTH ABOUT FORMER SHELTER CLOSURE A correction to “The Silence Is Deafening” (The Desert Freedom Press February 15th). The former Mayor, Steve Bennett did shut the former Paw Power animal shelter, only after a disgruntled volunteer took him out there whining that she could no longer go into the cat house. She resigned in writing and we made her stick to it. It wasn’t animal cruelty but building code violations on town property that .DM. shut the shelter down. All the animals were placed in homes, less one (a pit bull that was humanely euthanized) with no help from Jade Jones. All the cats that were being “mistreated” or killed still to this day live with the current town manager. Jade Jones is getting misinformation and printing it as the truth. The current facility is on private property and we meet all town and county building codes. We have permits and licenses for all of the work done. We have insurance and have done everything we can not to repeat what happened three years ago. We are open and have healthy and happy animals up for adoption. As of January 1, 2011, we have received 20 animals of which 16 have already been returned to owners or have found new homes. Thank You Patty Patton Animal Shelter Chairperson Holding Town Hall Meetings is a common practice in many towns and cities. Its purpose is to give the public an opportunity to ask questions and receive answers. At a meeting of this type, council members present do not interact with each other; they simply answer questions from the public. In years past, several council members have participated in strategic planning meetings where town goals were discussed. These meetings were facilitated by professionals from the LAPTOP CLEANING AND OPTIMIZING “If I can’t fix it...you don’t pay!” Virus and Malware removal, plus protection and optimization. At Town Hall meetings in the future, there will only be one or two council members present. Thank you for your continued support of our efforts to be open to the public. Patricia Anderson Quartzsite Town Council DISINCORPORATION OF QUARTZSITE? The Coalition party members HATE the town manager, police chief, building officials, water/sewer fees, P 5 rules in general. They don’t want any rules and would hate ANY town manager, police chief, building official, etc., and seem “hell bent” on UN- incorporating Quartzsite, which would be a disaster. Is there any question their goal is to disincorporate Quartzsite? Many people say one man is behind this coalition movement so the town is disincorporated and he can buy the water/sewer rights and house the county land fill. Is this true? Who is this?  SEE LETTERS ON PAGE 29 Take an extra 2% savings each day *2% OFF each day thru March. (March 17 x 2= 34% OFF) SALE! WATCHES BATTERIES BLACK HILLS GOLD SAME LOCATION!
