M 2, 2011 Town updates Submitted by Patricia Anderson As our winter season winds down, and town: “Quartzsite is much cleaner than it used to be, the town is taking pride in itself”; vendors said that “this is the best season in Quartzsite that we have had in many years!”; love the walking paths, looking forward to the new ones on Plymouth Rd. and Quail Trail”. The Copperstone Mine, approximately we once again say good-bye to vendors, part time residents and visitors, we bid them a fond farewell, ask that they drive safe and return soon. Favorable comments heard around .D M. of McDonald’s is nearing completion. Thanks to the cooperation between Plan- ning & Zoning and the owners, another beautiful business is being added to Quartzsite. The Snack Shack by the ball fi eld in the park is near completion, just in time for the Chili Cook-off! Patty Patton wishes to thank the com- munity for the donations they’ve made to the Paw Power Animal Shelter, which is still running and has NOT been shut down by the health dept. There are several projects in the works 10 miles north of town on Hwy. 95, has only to obtain a ground water permit and then they plan to begin reconstruction of the mill. The mining contractor they have chosen is Mining & Environmental Services (MES) from Colorado. The Kuehn hotel project, a four story hotel is scheduled to begin preliminary grading and structural plan review in March. This hotel will be located ap- proximately 800 feet north of E. Kuehn Road. The hotel is a project of Mr. Jo- seph Tannous of Hycrest Investments. It will be about 44,000 square feet with an estimated value of $4 million. There will be 44 rooms, a swimming pool and sprin- klers throughout the entire complex. for our town, but since they involve gov- ernmental agencies, any progress is mea- sured in inches.
