M���� 2, 2011 ���.D����� M��������.��� HISTORY OF SWANSEA- MIKE RIDDLE March 18, 9am Sponsored by BOUSE GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY Mike Riddle is a resident of Lake Havasu City, has a degree in Psy- chology and has a career in Business. He currently is and has been a BLM volunteer for 15 years. He taught courses in archeology, anthropol- ogy and southwest studies at Mohave Community College. He was one of a group of Havasuvians who were re- sponsible for laying the foundation for and forming the Lake Havasu His- torical Museum while being mentored by Prescott’s Sharlot Hall Historical Museum. He continued to volunteer at Havasu’s fi rst class Historical Mu- seum for 10 years. He has worked with the U.S. Forest Service on ar- cheology expeditions and surveys in Nevada, Arizona and Utah. Mike is currently leading a survey in LaPaz and Mohave Counties (including re- cording the Bouse Cemetery) for the Arizona State Preservation Offi ce for the Arizona Centennial. The project counts the graves, they estimate the condition of the cemetery and log or note whether it is still in use. All meetings are held in the Old Caf- eteria Building next to the Library in Bouse, Arizona from 10 am to noon. Visitors are always welcome, so come visit. A group of mo- torcycles was passing throught and heard about the event and decided to join in all the fun. Vintage cars and trucks were side by side with vintage motorcycles, most of them sporting side cars--these great looking motor- cycles were really something to see!! Come on down to the next cruise in on March 5 starting at 6 p.m. at the Shell Station in Quartzsite and see what surprizes will happen this time. Don’ forget the 50 cent snacks-- hot dogs, ice cream, fountain drinks and more--also several door prizes are drawn each weekend that the event is held!! Bring the whole family and have a great evening looking at the “toys” that have been lovingly restored and meet the owners who have bragging rights!! P��� 15 BOOK SIGNING Well-known and well-loved author C.J. Box will be coming to town to visit his parents this month, and he will be doing a book signing at the Reader’s Oasis Bookstore on Tuesday, March 15 at noon. Refreshments will be served at the signing. He will also be doing a signing the same afternoon at the Quartzsite Pub- lic Library starting at 2:30. Fans of the Joe Pickett series written by C.J. Box will be able to talk to the author and get their books signed at either event. If you love great suspense with lik- able characters, you are in for a treat, as those who have read the whole se- ries have found out.
