As the Hopi, Mayan, Nostradamus, Christian and many prophesies state we are in the changing times. Even here in Quartzsite folks are being forced into making decisions that will support the future of our society. Recently I was honored to sit in a circle of Quartzsite citizens who could see the joy in the future of Quartzsite. We are defi nitely a town in transition. Using the SWOT Analysis of Strengths, Weakness, Opportunities and Threats, the group looked at each aspect of Quartzsite. Even when we explored Quartzsite’s weaknesses, we chose to fi nd the solutions to the issues at hand, rather than get stuck energetically in the negative. By addressing what is working and what is not, people left with high hopes for the future of our community. That hope and joy is infectious! Being in the state of joy lightens the hearts of those around you. Here’s four easy steps to surviving the earth changes and all the prophecies. 1. Keep your eyes open. 2. Let go of fear. 3. Learn all you can. 4. Live your spirituality. Doesn’t that all sound a bit simple? Maybe it sounds like it could even be fun. We can chose to experience joy in any situation. I think experiencing joy is so M 2, 2011 Editorial BY SHANANA “RAIN” GOLDEN-BEAR natural, but living in these changing times can really challenge us to our core being. When Arizona State Elections Direc- tor, Amy Bjelland, stated “Local politics is like your local contact sport,” it gave many of us a different way of view- ing the challenges facing Quartzsite today. How can we fi nd the joy in all the bickering, the loud negative voices, the offi cial paper of the town suggesting all our problems would go away if we just dis-incorporate, all the untrue rumors, and all that “stuff”? We can fi nd the gifts these issues bring, and come together to seek solutions for the best outcome of our community. There is joy in using our creative thought processes, especially if we just allow that negativity to fl ow off us like rain washes the leaves on a tree. Experiencing joy might even become a habit! Try it, you might like it~ According to the Mayan, the fifth world fi nished in 1987. The sixth world starts in 2012. So we are currently “between worlds”. This time is sometimes called the “Apocalypse” or revealing. This means the real truth will be revealed. It is also the time for us to work through “our stuff” individually and collectively. The Mayan sixth world is actually blank. This means it is up to us, as co- creators, to start creating the new world and civilization we want now. How will you participate in the co- creation of the future of Quartzsite? Through joy, hope and peaceful meth- ods that empower you and our com- munity? I sincerely hope so.
