Best Fitness Coach Kasey Adair of Omni Health & Fitness Center 1400 Walter Reed Rd. 910-423-6664 or www.omnifitnesscenter.com/location/fayetteville-nc Kasey Adair, last year's winner in this category, has been selected again as 2019's Best Fitness Coach. A personal trainer since 2013, Kasey graduated from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke with a bachelor's degree in exercise and sports science. She is a certified personal trainer through Interactive Fitness Trainers of America, an internationally rec- ognized certification for fitness professionals. Adair has been at Omni Health & Fitness Center since 2014 and says that helping people reach their health and fitness goals is her passion. Her goal with clients is to get them to a point in their journey where they don't need her any longer. Many of her clients want more from a personal trainer than just some- one to help them get fit. They want to gain enough confidence to come into the gym and work independently. And it's not always just about weight, muscle- building or self-confidence, either. Many of Adair's clients are pre- or post-knee surgery, making Adair a sort of "nurse at the gym," in her words. Kasey's philosophy as a personal trainer is to be friendly and fun and to be available to clients as their go-to person. She feels her job is to provide encour- agement and guidance to help clients progress to the best of their ability. Best Local Picnic Area Arnette Park 2165 Wilmington Hwy. 910-433-1547 or www.fcpr.us/Home/Components/FacilityDirectory/ FacilityDirectory/86/2974 This 100-acre park is a combination of devel- oped facilities and natural woodland. Picnic pavilions, ball fields and more make Arnette Park a popular gath- ering spot for families and large groups. The mile-long perimeter road is ideal for biking and walking. There are plenty of picnic areas with grills, and larger sheltered picnic areas can be reserved by contacting the park office. There are also several playground areas for children to enjoy, along with horseshoes and tennis and volleyball courts for a full day of family fun. Each December, Christmas in the Park features a must-see celebration of holiday lights and music. Organized youth baseball, football and soccer games are regularly held here, too. The concession stand is open during peak times. An 18-basket disc golf course is also on-site. Arnette Park is on The Crazy Tourist's list of the top 15 things to do in Fayetteville. The park is open to the public daily from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. from March through October. Winter hours, November-February, are 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Best Place For Taking A Hike, Best Place For Doggie Walk Cape Fear River Trail 631 Sherman Dr. 910-433-1547 or www.fcpr.us/parks-trails/trails/cape-fear-river-trail The Cape Fear River Trail is a perpetual favorite and longtime winner of these Best of Fayetteville titles. No matter what brings you to the trail — exercise, relax- ation, communing with nature, a brisk walk with your human or canine friends — you will be glad you came. The trail features over 5 miles of 10-foot-wide paved one-way trails through an amazing array of trees, plants and wildlife. Walkers, runners and bikers love the spectacular views of the Cape Fear River. The terrain ranges from flat to slightly hilly. Signs along the trail explain the wildlife and plant life. In addition to the wooden bridges, including one covered bridge, there are more than 1,000 feet of boardwalk through the marsh and wetlands along the trail. Just under 3 miles of the Cape Fear Mountain Bike Trail is now accessible off of the Cape Fear River Trail. It consists of two sections on opposite sides of the trail. Parking is available at both ends of the trail: the southern terminus at J. Bayard Clark Park Nature Center, 631 Sherman Dr., and the northern terminus at Jordan Soccer Complex, 445 Treetop Dr. Amenities include restrooms at both ends of the trail, portable toilets along the trail, and benches, tables and security call boxes. The trail is open 365 days a year from 8 a.m. to dusk. o utdoor s & r ecre a t i on
