What is it that fascinates us about the great beyond? And what can ghosts teach us about our history, our memory, and our- selves? In this class, Ashley Robinson, who holds a doctorate in 19th Century English Literaure and is the Lead Sto- ryteller at Interrobang, will explore that question as we read a series of classic, literary ghost stories by writ- ers like Mark Twain and Edith Whar- ton that are guaranteed to give you goosebumps. Green space within our communities is becoming scarce, and urban sprawl continues to devour our woodlands and natural habitats. Vickie Kelley, the founder and current president of the Natural State Burial Associa- tion, will share how an earth burial in a conservation cemetery can be an environmentally sustainable so- lution. The lack of affordable burial plots, combined with the high cost of a conventional funeral, has led to an increased demand for cremation. Rather than accepting this highly pol- luting alternative, as offered by the modern funeral industry, NSBA pro- vides information on the resurgence of home funerals and green burials. They offer guidance and help with this completely legal, deeply spiritual, and economically accessible alterna- tive.
