It tells how visionaries led by a former nun came together in their quest to build both a home for the Blessed Sacrament and a shrine dedi- cated to the Mother of God. Through its uncertain beginnings and the of- ten challenging years that follow, the sturdy native stone chapel continues to welcome people of all faiths to its tranquil and scenic place. To tell the Shrine's story, authors Mary Ann Kahmann and Juana Young draw upon historic photos, documents, and artifacts recovered and discovered from parish and diocesan archives, as well as the memories and attics of area residents. The authors also relate some of the adventures they had in writing this unique history. The class will be held at Ozark Folkways, an organization dedicated to the pres- ervation, development, instruction, and celebration of regional arts and crafts, located next door to the Catho- lic Shrine.
