26 SEPTEMBER 20 - 26, 2017 Best of Fayetteville Most Romantic Restaurant Chris's Steak & Seafood House 2620 Raeford Rd. (910) 485-2948 or www.chrissteakhousenc.com Ambiance and engagement of the senses: two critical components of romance. Chris's offers three seating options to fit any mood: softly lit dining room; airy, naturally lit enclosed patio; or casual, fun bar seating. Head chef and owner Greg Kalevas and his team serve in- house, hand-cut angus and USDA choice beef perfectly cooked over hardwood coals in an open hearth. Each steak is tender, juicy and rich in flavor, arriving in a cloud of heavenly scent that will literally cause your mouth to water. Fresh Atlantic seafood like ahi tuna and lobster tail is also on the table, along with delightful wine pairings such as T-Bone with Spanish Rioja (vanilla and spice flavors). Chris Poulos opened Chris's Steak & Seafood House in 1963 in Fayetteville's very first shopping center. He had one goal in mind: "to give you your money's worth … without cutting corners or quality." Kalevas, current owner and head chef, joined Chris's over 38 years ago as an apprentice and took over after Chris retired. Kalevas is in the process of expanding the bar and patio area. He and his entire staff have clearly done an excellent job carrying on Chris's vision. Best Local Caterer B&B Catering, Inc. 697 Bethel Baptist Rd. (910) 497-8228 or www.bnbcatering.com For everything from weddings to graduations to retirements, a good catering company relieves event organizers of a huge amount of responsibility so everyone can enjoy the event itself. For a task this important, patrons want to hire the best of the best — and B&B Catering, winner of Best Local Caterer 13 times, is the obvious choice. Owner Bill Pannoff leaves no detail unattended. B&B provides much more than food and wait staff. Its website proudly and rightly states: "We don't sell food, we sell comfort and peace of mind!" Non-food services include pre-event and day-of planning, bands, DJs, string quartets, flowers, photographers, event painters, full-service beverages, transportations, accommodations, decorations and two private wedding venues. Pannhoff proudly served in the U.S. Army and graduated from the Military's Club Management & Culinary Arts School. He also spent time with the Army Culinary Arts Team and was a general's enlisted aide and NCOIC of a Military Bed and Breakfast. In 1990, he turned an old gas station in Spring Lake into an office and proceeded to design and build a 9,000-square-foot industrial kitchen; B&B was born. Pannhoff truly loves the hospitality industry, and it shows. The staff works to personally connect with every client so each party and event is uniquely different. At B&B the motto is, "It's more than a party; it's personal We are a reflection of our clients. Entertaining is a reflection of you." Best Brew House The Mash House 4150 Sycamore Dairy Rd. (910) 867-9223 or www.themashhouse.com "Local food. Local beer. Local faces." The Mash House is a two- in-one restaurant and brewing company that's served the Fayetteville community for 16 years. It makes a specific effort to support North Carolina farmers and growers by using local products whenever possible. The Mash House treats the process of hand- crafting beer with great skill, care and invention. Its on-site microbrewery produces award-winning beers using no preservatives and just four primary ingredients: malted barley, hops, yeast and pure water. This June, its Spiced Apple Ale took Best in Show at the 15th annual Blues-N-Brews festival. In April, the brewing company won seven medals at the Carolinas Championship of Beer, including a gold for its Jack'd Up Stout. The restaurant's cuisine fuses gourmet and casual sensibilities, offering comforting favorites like freshly ground burgers as well as unique dishes like grilled bison meatloaf. Summer is the perfect time to stop by The Mash House and grab a delicious bite to eat along with seasonal drink offerings in portions ranging from 10-glass tasting flights to half pints and take-home growlers. The Mash House recently launched its own unique food truck in the Fayetteville area. Keep your eyes open for the only local food truck offering home-brewed craft beer. Awesome idea! Best Wine Shop Grapes & Hops 5780 Ramsey St., Suite 106 (910) 822-8700 or www.grapesandhops.net Grapes & Hops has been in business for 13 years and in 2016 opened its third North Carolina location. The original Grapes & Hops, on Ramsey Street, along with the other two locations, offer wines for every palette and price range, cheese and meat pairings, specialty beers and micro-brews, cigars, wine-related gifts, wine and beer by the glass and a growler station. In-store seating invites guests to stay and hang out for as long as they'd like while enjoying a drink. Owner Teresa Swint described the shop as a "local family-oriented small business founded on three principles — honesty, professionalism and customer service." Each of the three stores are managed by certified specialists in wine and are staffed with professional industry leaders, ensuring visitors will never leave without good advice and answers to all their questions. Events include a quarterly wine walk in collaboration with fellow Best of Fayetteville winners Scrub Oaks Restaurant and Pierro's Italian Bistro and a prohibition party. Every Friday, patrons enjoy free wine-tastings where they sample the staff 's wine picks of the week. WINE & DINE WINE & DINE
