Best Wine Shop The Wine Café 108 Hay St./ 5943 Camden Road 910.779.2766/910.339.2917 or www.thewinecafeus.com Angie Malave knew she was taking a chance when she opened her first Wine Café in Hope Mills four years ago. There was nothing like it in the community — a wine bar with vending machines dispensing tastes of deliciousness to customers; a well-trained staff eager to find the perfect wine for customers; and a selection of reasonably priced wines from around the world. This concept enabled patrons to create their own wine flights, sample a variety of wines at their own pleasure or just enjoy a full glass of their favorite vintage. The offerings change regularly keeping the selections and menu fresh. The atmosphere is a delightful combination of sophistication and comfort making this the perfect place to grab a quick drink with friends, spend a date night with your sweetheart, host an event like a bridal shower or a coffee or unwind with your thoughts. Malave's concept was well received and before long she opened a second Wine Café in Historic Downtown Fayetteville. Both locations are well stocked with a variety of wines from around the world as well as some imported and domestic beers. Malave's love of the grape goes far beyond creating an atmosphere to enjoy a glass of wine with friends. She regularly hosts vintners who offer classes about the many different types of wine available at the Wine Café. Looking to learn how to pair your favorite wine with just the right cheese, or even a full menu? It's likely that there is a class about that, too. But if you don't have time to attend, the knowledgeable staff can help find the perfect wine for any occasion. Best Greek Cuisine/Best Breakfast Zorba's Gyro 2919 Raeford Road/3114 N. Main St., Hope Mills 910.484.1010/910.424.3332 or www.allmenus.com/nc/cross-creek/60546-zorbas-gyro/menu/\ A gyro is a classic Greek sandwich made of either lamb and beef or chicken layered on fluffy pita bread with crisp fresh lettuce, sweet tomato and bright onion. The deep flavors of the moist roasted meats are perfectly complemented with a tart and light sauce called tzatziki made from Greek yogurt, cucumbers, lemon juice and dill. As a sandwich, it is perfect. The complex interplay of flavors and textures are intriguing and delicious. So, a sandwich this good deserves only the finest craftsmanship — and you can find that only at Zorba's Gyro. Great food here! In addition to its namesake sandwich, Zorba's is where hundreds of Fayettevillians go for an awesome local breakfast. Zorba's has an extensive "cook to order" breakfast menu making it the perfect place to start your day. (And, pick up your copy of Up & Coming Weekly) Zorba's also offers other incredibly delicious cuisine, including homemade spaghetti with a secret sauce so good it's maddening. The relaxed diner atmosphere makes Zorba's Gyro perfect for a quick lunch or a meal out with friends and family. The welcoming staff may even help make it easier to try unfamiliar food. The names may be long, but every order at Zorba's Gryo is bound to be delicious. WINE & DINE WINE & DINE
