November 21, 2012 www.DesertMessenger.com Whiskey a grow-grow at Scenic Road Quartzsite, Arizona - When the new owners, Shawn and Randie Farish, took over the old Desert Sunset RV Park in June 2010, they had their hands full with all the infrastructure improvements needed to bring the park up to date. According to Shawn, "We spent the fi rst two seasons replacing all the water and electric, regraveling, and generally cleaning up the place to meet our own standards". With the heavy lifting now out of the way, they are concentrating their efforts on making the season more enjoyable for their guests, especially their seasonal guests. To that end, they have implemented a loyalty program (think frequent fl yer), signature events like an annual luau (they even have poi fl own in) and a hoe down, and now a new offering to those who like to dig in the dirt for something other than gold. They are calling it the Whiskey A Grow Grow program. Participating seasonal guests are given a half whis- key barrel planter and a bag of potting soil and they provide the green thumb. Shawn says, "They can plant fl owers, veggies, cac- tus…whatever they want as long as it's legal, and we'll have prizes for the prettiest at our end of season mahalo party." The rustic barrels add an old west feel to the park which has undergone extensive renovations over the past two years. Also new this season will be a chartered overnight bus trip for outlet mall Christmas shopping which will be avail- able to non-park residents as well. The bus departs December 4th and those interested can contact The Scenic Road RV Park for more information. For ALL your Real Estate Needs CALL Carolyn Guthrie OPEN HOUSE!
