March 18, 2015 www.DesertMessenger.com 19 Yuma, AZ - On March 11th, BLM Yuma Field Offi ce Park Ranger Jim Turner, Heavy Equipment Operator Martin Gibson and several of the Yuma Field Offi ce's Outstanding Volunteers took action today to clean up a historically used transient camp site in Tyson Wash near Quartzsite, Arizona. The site, after considerable research, was determined to be on public lands but in years past had been the site of a sand and gravel sale. The area contained several tons of household trash, construction materials, bedding materials, and rotten organic matter that had been used by various individuals in development of their seasonal dwellings. The group's efforts have made an immediate and favorable impact on the health of the land and will help discourage future visitors from establishing hidden camps and engaging in conduct not consistent with BLM regulations. http://www.blm.gov/az/st/en/prog/hazmat.html Town of Quartzsite Recreation Dept. 928-927-4333. Traveling to Yuma, with camera in hand taking photo of clouds and how the sun rimmed the edge where the light hit. The afternoon sun coming from the west after our rains the weekend prior, projected photo perfect for paintings. At 4:25 in the afternoon, I am unaware of stars in the sky this time a day adding to the wonderment of the moment. For those who believe and those that wonder...it is truly a picture to be shared.
