An organiza- tion named Thrivent Financial has mini-grants available for community projects. Thrivent Financial is a faith-based organization founded through the Lu- theran Church. Members of Thrivent can and are encouraged to apply for these grants, which are designated to help support community organizations and projects. On March 29th at 11:00 a.m. at Cov- enant Lutheran Church Ron Phillips of Thrivent Financial will be presenting a program outlining the organization, membership benefi ts and how you can help your community through Thrivent. These grants are called "Thrivent Action Teams" and teams are eligible for a $250 to support a community organization or project. To participate in these Thrivent Action teams you must be a Thrivent member or an Associate Membership begin- ning as low as $10 annually. Covenant Lutheran Church received over $ 2,000 in 2014 from Thrivent. A $700 grant was awarded to the Quartzsite Food Bank; a $700 grant was awarded to Isaiah 58; Christmas gifts were purchased for the Alliance Christmas Project; Thanksgiving Din- ners were supplied to Senior Citizens, and necessary items were gathered for Project Hero-Comfort for our troops in Afghanistan. With the help of the Thrivent Action Team grants, Covenant Lutheran Church was able to repair their damaged wall; a new computer was purchased, and a window was replaced. Please join us at Covenant Lutheran Church on Sunday, March 29th to learn more about Thrivent Financial and how you can join a Thrivent Action Team, become part of the Thrivent Financial community, and apply for Action Team grants to aid our Quartz- ite Community and its non-profi t organizations.
