F CUS On Fayetteville Has a Television Station! Leaders Wanted: Sign Up for Fall 2013 Citizens' Academy Citizens can watch and enjoy City government programming now by tuning into FAYTV7 on Time Warner Cable Channel 7. Residents can stay informed about City services through bulletin boards and videos. City Council meetings are shown live and through rebroadcasts during the week. The station is a valuable tool for the City to engage and inform the citizenry about City departments. The channel is a work in progress and came to fruition as the result of Time Warner Cable ceasing operations of channel 7 on July 1 as part of State law. Be sure to check out the channel on TV and read about the station's YouTube channel below. Subscribe to the City's YouTube Channel! Subscribe to our YouTube channel at www.faytv7.com. The City of Fayetteville wants citizens to be a part of the next Citizens' Academy in Fall 2013. Classes start Thursday, Oct. 3 at 6 p.m. and are held each Thursday through Nov. 14, with the exception of Oct. 31. The Citizens' Academy is free of charge. Rogers Drive Closure Begins This Citizens' Academy will be fun and interactive. The class meets once a week and gives citizens the opportunity to learn more about local government and take ownership of their community. The Citizens' Academy also helps citizens understand how the City provides services to residents. Citizens learn what City departments do and how they do it. Rogers Drive will be closed from Scotty Hill Road to Shamrock Drive for a sewer main replacement, which started Aug. 26. The City hopes that informed citizens are able to take information to community groups and share with neighbors. It may even encourage some to be involved in building a better community by becoming members of boards and commissions. The contractor anticipates the project will take approximately two to four weeks to complete. To apply, log onto www.cityoffayetteville.org and click on the Citizens' Academy button at the top of the page or call (910) 433-1578. Traffic will be detoured via Scotty Hill Road. Rogers Drive is located off Cain Road near the Eutaw Shopping Center.
