The election is fi nally over, and none too soon with the Holiday season fast approaching. I, for one, will be glad to be hearing "Peace on Earth" greet- ings after the continuous political rhetoric blasting the airwaves. Voters have made their choices and in most cases, the majority ruled. In Quartzsite, politics is never boring. We all have seen the news articles telling us how bad the politics are. After viewing hundreds of state and national political commercials, I've come to realize our whole society is becoming accustomed and numb to all this negativity and lies. Remember the days when you actually believed what you saw on television? Now-a-days, integrity, ci- vility, and decency appears to be out the window when it comes to politi- cal campaigns. With instantaneous Internet exposure, lies can be spread worldwide. Then another website picks up the article and before you know it, the lies have been shared by hundreds, so.... therefore, it must be of the Desert Messenger Email: editor@DesertMessenger.com DEADLINE is WED. Remember when your neighbor checked on you just because they cared? Remember when we didn't need a receipt from a non-prof- it organization to give? Remember when folks enjoyed the giving for the sake of giving? What will happen with our children who have grown up with the expectation of receiving credit for their kind actions? Politicians and civic leaders would be wise to take advice from Native Elders who teach it is good to give from the heart while no one is watch- ing. Giving for the sake of sharing the abundance in our lives allows us to open up our hearts to our fellow human beings. When we close down our hearts, we become just like those political commercials, wearing down our souls with anger and fear of the unknown. 16th Annual Celia's Rainbow Gardens Spaghetti Dinner 16th Annual Spaghetti Dinner to ben- efi t Celia's Rainbow Gardens The 16th annual Spaghetti Dinner to benefi t Celia's Rainbow Gardens will be held at the Q.I.A. on Tuesday, November 13 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The dinner will include salad, spaghetti, garlic bread, desserts and drinks for a donation of $5.00 per person. All monies raised will go to- ward more work in the Gardens. I suggest readers choose to give one dollar anonymously somewhere around town this week. Get creative and share a little. If we all share a little, we'll have an abundant commu- nity. Build integrity by giving when no one is watching! The dinner this year will also have some great entertainment--Barefoot and Boots Band will play country music again this year--this great band has been playing at the annual spaghetti dinner and also at the Party in the Park in March for many years now, and they do a wonderful job entertaining everyone. Paul Winer, accompanied again by Ralph Martin on one-string bass will also play some great boogie woogie and blues. The doors to the hall will open at 4:30 and you can come in and sit and watch the music until the dining room opens at 5 p.m. if you wish. There will be two serving lines again this year, so there should not be a long wait for your food. Come on out and enjoy some delicious food and musical en- tertainment and help support Celia's Rainbow Gardens!!!
