Page 4 Thank you for your support Michael and Denise of Quartzsite coachworks say, "Thank you, thank you, thank you" to so many people who helped us the past few months. In Au- gust, while caretaking property east of Brenda for the summer, we lost ev- erything in a severe storm. Denise was waitressing, and Michael was working online in our RV answering RV ques- tions via ww.JustAnswer.com. Dark skies delivered rain and hail. Our son drove out from Quartzsite taking us back to his home, where we stayed until we could discern the proper direction to proceed. Fortunately, Rain and Starr of Desert Messenger are friends and when called, immediately picked up the gauntlet, helping the next morning and led us to Carol Kelley and her staff at Quartzsite Salvation Army. The provided shelter, food, and as Michael was barefoot, pro- vided socks and shoes. Quite honestly, never having been through a devastat- ing event like this we were disoriented for days, Salvation Army did what we could not do. Rereading this note, it's somewhat ineffective in expressing my gratitude to all involved. Although a kind soul whom I respect shared with me in the midst of this "experience" relating my feelings inadequacy to say, "Thank you" and accept the help offered to us, and for that I'm truly grateful. As of the end of October, we have recov- ered sufficiently to move forward this season and ply our trade so we can make a living – I'd like to say, "on the ground running", but those who live in Quartzsite, know it's more like, "walk- ing briskly." Whatever the case, I want Just Rambling... There's something about doing nothing that's appealing. Like not shaving first thing in the morning, or laying abed just a tad longer. Oh well! Guess I'll help hang the wash and clean the cat's box. Then I'll sit back and watch the clothes dry, maybe play a little computer solitaire. Provided by Elmer London & Desert Messenger to take this opportunity to say Thank you for helping us at a time when all seemed lost, by providing the light of hope and support, so we can move on and be of service to others. Please consider supporting the Quartz- site Salvation Army with your usable goods and support. If you already do, "thank you", for they are there FOR US! Michael A. Reush and Denise Florian Thank you from Food Bank Thank You to all who attended our Spaghettii Dinner on Sat. Oct. 27th. And the biggest Thanks to all who vol- unteered to help, you all made it a suc- cess. And the biggest Thanks to Mag- gie and Gene Ross for spearheading this event for the second year. These two wonderful people, along with the Lutheran Church have helped the food bank all summer. They shopped the bargains and brought us the extras we needed to help during the long hot summer. Again, Thank You to The Great folks here in Quartz- site for your support. Carol Kelley and her wonderful helpers at the Food Bank Bloom where you're planted My reason for writing this short ar- ticle is to show how dedicated some of our community members are, not only with their jobs, but with their families. Since moving to Quartzsite in 2006, I have had the pleasure of having sev- eral children of four of Arizona's finest officers in my classrooms. I am speak- ing about three state troopers and a city officer who live here in Quartzsite. These public servants, along with their families attend Board meetings, Parent Teacher conferences, Fall Festivals, school birthday parties for their kids, lead church youth groups, volunteer as coaches, take their little ones to the November 7, 2012 town playground, drive them to piano lessons, school events, etc. One of the sweetest things to see is these fine young officers carrying their little ones in their strong arms and show love for all of their children and their spouses. I am so proud to have been a small part of their lives and watch- ing their 5th/6th graders grown into mannerly young people who volunteer their time in activities for the commu- nity. The younger children are watch- ing their parents and older siblings as they grow up and I have high hopes for them as they mature into responsible adults. It has been exciting to observe these "flowers" Bloom Where They Are Planted (as my mom would have said). Sincerely, wisdom of Fairy Tales, or have such Tales fallen victim to Social Correct- ness? They taught us hard work would fulfill our needs and lazi- ness would lead us to greed and envy. Chicken Little taught us not to start untrue troubling rumors. The Tortoise and the Hare taught us the difference between diligence and sloth. Other Tales taught us the evils of cheating and the virtue of honesty. We didn't know we were learning by being entertained but we did learn. We learned charity, kindness and po- lite, friendly, forgiving behavior.
