R G-B Spirit Walk 2012 huge success by Dinice Ross Quartzsite, AZ - The weather was beautiful, the setting was unusual and the people attending were impatient for the show to start. History was in the making, Sat. October 27th. The "Spirit Walk 2012" was hosted by the Quartzsite Cemetery Board in the Pio- neer section of the Hi Jolly Cemetery in Quartzsite. This fun guided walk through the history of Quartzsite was told by some of the locals portraying 12 pioneers in the cemetery. There were a few pioneers from last year and a few new pioneers that wanted to make an ap- pearance: Viktoria Hagely- played by Joanne Winer; came to America from Germany, then to Quartzsite. She ran the Hagely Hotel with her husband An- tone. Buck Connor – played by Ralph Martin; actor, pilot, minister, writer, and Veteran. Jessie Scott – played by Lyle Qualls; was a welder for Southern Pacifi c Railroad also a cattleman, sing- er, barber, sportsman and humorist. Angilita Scott – played by Mary Scott; known as Grandma Scott, she was the birth mother of 12 and adoptive mother of many. Foundations were laid for 5 more generations of Scotts in Quartzsite. Joseph Cone' – played by Paul Winer; he was Quartzsite's fi rst "nature boy" and a local landmark. He was a philosopher, woodworker and deckhand on sailing ships. An- nie Stone – played by Jo Stoltz; was a pioneer wife and mother trying to keep her family alive and fed. Frank Weber – played by Mike Jewett; raised goats and produce, as a child he lived on a canal boat in Germany. In his later years he was constable of Quartzsite. Zenobia Lacy – played by Cee Carne- val; was the wife of William Lacy (jus- tice of the peace in Q for 3 terms) she was a pioneer wife adjusting to small town life. Wm Keiser – played by Joe Quiet Times BIG SELECTIONS OF: Greeting Cards Shipping Supplies Offi ce Supplies Mon-Fri 10 to 4 Drop Off/Receive UPS & FedEx Express 90 E. Main Street, Quartzsite • 928-927-8081 Winslow; a miner, painter, teacher and wrote down a lot of Q's history. Mary Isabel Pease – played by Mary Huntley; was the wife of Solomon Pease. She had the original idea to have a pyramid over Hi Jolly's grave. Unknown – played by Dick Boss; trav- eling through the desert, he got off his horse to relieve himself and was struck by a rattlesnake. He was eventually found 30 plus years later, fi nally com- ing to rest in the Hi Jolly Cemetery – unknown but not forgotten. They all played their parts to the hilt and made history come alive for a few hours. The guides were an essential part as they guided the present to meet the past. The Guides were: Tim Rider, Boy Scouts; Jeremy Kimberlin, Zack Behrendt, Jack McElwin and James McCoy with Dinice Ross fi lling in when needed. Volunteers at the entrance tables were Eileen Lunsford and P.J. Bettmann. The Gentlemen counting attendees was Ron Stoltz. Bill Moore took videos along with Pastor Bruce Swart. Doug Ross and Dennis Chap- man took pictures – all of which will be preserved for years to come. If you missed the performance, you will have to wait until next year when a new batch of pioneers gets to come out and play for a day!
