N 17, 2010 .DM. AWC Quartzsite Learning Center The Arizona Western College (AWC) Quartzsite Learning Center enjoyed greeting the public at our Open House event on Friday, November 5th, and would like to extend our sincere thanks to all the Quartzsite businesses that donated door prizes. Our appreciation goes out to the following donors: Best Mexican, Burger King, Cactus Curlers, Carl’s Jr., Herb’s Hardware, The Jerky Store & More, McDonald’s, Roadrun- ner Market and Silly Al’s. We would also like to thank Chevron for donating ice for this community event. The wel- come has not ended. Please feel free to stop in between 8a.m. and 6p.m., Monday through Thursday to see the facility, use our computer lab or in- quire about classes. We are located at 695 N. Kofa Avenue in Quartzsite. If you missed out on our exercise or computer classes in November, you have another opportunity coming up in December. ABC’s of Computing will be offered again December 2nd – De- cember 16th. It meets on Thursdays from 9a.m. to 11:30a.m. This is a great class for those new to computing and needing the very basics to get started. The next Low Impact Aerobics class will begin on November 29th and con- tinues through December 22nd. It meets every Monday and Wednesday from 6:30p.m. to 7:15p.m. This class builds strength and stamina through gentle aerobic activity using a stability ball and light hand weights. Students should wear supportive athletic shoes and bring a floor mat. All levels are welcome. Several time choices are available for the dance exercise class known as “Zumba.” Two class options begin on December 7th. There will be a 5:00p. m. to 6p.m. class and it will be followed by a 6:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. class every Tuesday and Thursday. These classes run through January 6th (with a short one week break during the holiday season). A morning session, 9:00a. m. to 10:00a.m., will also be offered from December 14th through January 13th on Tuesdays and Thursdays (it also will break for one week during the holidays). If you love to boogey, this is a fun method for shaping up and get- ting healthy. Registration is now open for all Spring Semester academic courses as well. The Spring Semester begins on Janu- ary 10th. If you’ve been thinking about going back to school, stop in now to schedule your placement testing, meet with an advisor and map out your fu- ture studies.
