For most of history, love of fatherland or homeland was an attachment to the physical features of the land. But that notion changed in the eighteenth cen- tury, when the ideals of democracy, socialism, and communism strongly emerged into political thought. Patri- otism was still a love of one’s country that included connections to the land and people, but then also included its customs and traditions, pride in its history, and devotion to its welfare. Patriotism still matters! Some people are true patriots while others are not! Having patriotism shows that you love and respect everything your country stands for and you will fight to protect its culture and it’s ways and Recycle... everything that makes it because you are patriotic to it! A false patriot will give up when the times are hard and let the country get run over! A false patriot doesn’t care what happens to their nation and how it flows and how their lives could be changed! Patriotism still matters to me and most people I know Today, most people agree that patriotism also involves service to their country, but many disagree on how to best per- form such service. Some believe that the national government speaks for a country therefore; all its citizens should actively support government policies and actions. Others argue that a true patriot speaks out when convinced that their country is follow- ing an unwise or unjust action. This is what patriotism means to me and what patriotism is and where it came from. Originally organized in 2004 as a quartet, Brothers For- ever, under the leadership of founding group member, Curtis Hagy, recently transitioned into the trio that you hear to¬day. The group’s second single re- lease became their first Top 80 song in 2005. Through¬out the past two years, the group has continued to pro- duce charting songs and have gained national attention from fans, pastors and pro¬moters alike. From California to New York this group has touched the hearts of many. The diversity that this group brings makes them a huge favorite with the youth and also creates a demand for them with older music lovers alike. Their ability to adapt to any setting, without compromising the gospel they present, makes Brothers Forever a fa- vorite wherever they go. Brothers Forever has been nominat- ed for their first Christian Music Hall of Fame Visionary Award. The trio received the nomination as Southern Gospel Group of the Year.
