SEPTEMBER 28, 2022 UCW 19 Best of Fayetteville Best German Restaurant Max & Moritz Bakery & Restaurant 5945 Cliffdale Road Suite 1104 910-826-8400 or facebook.com/MaxMoritzFayNC/ It is no surprise that Max & Moritz takes the cake as the best German restaurant in town. This repeat winner serves up a full menu of authentic German breakfast, lunch and dinner options, along with des- serts that are baked fresh and vary daily. Opened 15 years ago by Petra Voley, the menu is filled with recipes handed down from her mother, who still lives in Germany. Voley's daughter, Nadine Dobeneck, took over in April. Nadine makes the German cakes and cookies from scratch. Some of the more popular dishes are German staples like jaegerschnitzel, brat- wurst, goulash, sauerkraut and spaetzle. Another favorite dish is the Beef Rouladen Plate, a meal that features browned beef, bacon, onions and pickles roasted along- side homemade gravy. If you can't decide, the Dinner Sampler offers bratwurst, chicken and pork schnitzel. With its European ambience, the restaurant is small in size, making way for a more familial and intimate dining experience. If your schedule allows no time for you to sit down and savor a bite, you can order your meal over the phone and pick it up instead. Whether in the restaurant or on the go, you'll taste a bit of Germany in every bite.
