Zorba's Gyro opened its doors in 1974, and the rest is history — family history, that is. Tommy's son John worked alongside his father beginning in 1996, and took over daily operations when his father retired. Zorba's has become a local favorite because of its cooked to order breakfast offerings, delicious handmade gyros, authentic tzatziki sauce and exceptional meat sauce. While it might surprise visitors that Zorba's has Fayetteville's Best Breakfast and Greek Cuisine - two very different categories - locals are anything but shocked. Zorba's breakfast menu boasts everything from three-egg cheese omelets to country ham biscuits to blueberry buttermilk pancakes. Come back for lunch or dinner for Zorba's famous slow-roasted lamb or beef gyros, great with authentic tzatziki sauce, or try a hot sub. Customers are especially fond of the Wednesday special, Zorba's homemade spaghetti. For dessert, Zorba's offers Marina's brownies, cheesecake and traditional Greek baklava — a pastry made of phyllo dough and crushed nuts soaked in honey.
