14 | | Fall 2017 1) ITALY Gen Z appeal: Currently, the U.S. dollar hovers at nearly a one-to-one rate with the euro, making a trip to Europe more aff ordable than it has been in quite some time. This is good news for Gen Zers, who are interested in taking longer, cheaper trips in which they can truly immerse themselves in the culture of their destination. Dream itinerary: When you think of Italy, cities like Venice and Rome spring to mind, but a more budget-friendly but equally culturally rich option is Florence. It's the cradle of the Renaissance after all, where artists like da Vinci, Donatello, Botticelli and Michelangelo left their mark. Here, you can take in an opera at a historic venue like the Teatro della Pergola, sample delicious Tuscan wine and cuisine at a local trattoria, view artistic masterpieces at the Uffi zi Gallery or just admire the view from the famed Ponte Vecchio bridge. 2) MEXICO Gen Z appeal: Lovers of adventure, Gen Zers opt for active vacation experiences like kayaking, scuba diving and heli-skiing. Dream itinerary: Given its varied terrain and endless shoreline, our neighbor to the south provides ample opportunity for thrill seekers. A trip to Cancun, for instance, allows them the chance to swim with 20-ton whale sharks, zipline through the rainforest canopy or snorkel in an underground cave in the Yucatán jungle.
