N 3, 2010 .DM. LIght up Quartzsite for Christmas! Let’s Light Up the Town this Christmas. Win prizes too! by Joanne Winer Many of you might remember that years ago, there was a Christmas lighting contest, where residents and business owners decorated their plac- es, and on a certain day, a bus would take people around to see all the dec- orated areas and vote on which one best showed the spirit of Christmas. It hasn’t been done for many years, and many people have asked when it was going to be done again. The Quartzsite Business Chamber of Commerce has decided to work to get this great event going again, and are already planning to do it this year and hopefully make it an annual event again. They will be putting to- gether a map and ballot that will be in the December 1st issue of the Desert Messenger, and applications to enter the contest are available at the Busi- ness Chamber office now. Applications must be turned in by Nov. 24. Everyone, resident, visitor, and busi- ness, is invited to come in and register to enter the lighting contest. There will be some great prizes for the winners, and it will be lots of fun for everyone!! Once all the registrations are in, a map and ballot will be available in the Desert Messenger in the December is- sues. Anyone can then take the map and go view the places that have reg- istered for the contest at their leisure. Once they have visited all the sites that have entered the contest, they make their choices and turn their ballots in at either Town Hall or at the Business Chamber office.
