With the recent disappearance of the camel atop Hi Jolly’s Monument in the Quartzsite Cemetery, it was only fitting that this traffic-stopping, beauty-of-a- camel made her appearance this past week! “Georgette” is rumored to be the daughter of the Red Ghost Camel. Was she sent away to boarding school in France at Chameau Internat? Where is her father, the Red Ghost Camel? Gem World recently moved into the gigantic warehouse on W. Main, and while workers were busy stocking the shelves, one gal took some extra time to make “Georgette” presentable for her bebut! George He, the owner of Gem World and Quartzsite Showgrounds, L.L.C. “in- herited” her when he purchased the property next to the Main Event. She sat many years rusting away near the entrance to the parking lot. When George He purchased the warehouse just down the street, it was only appropriate to move Georgette to the new location. According to Barbara Bowman, she was originally made in Oklahoma of tire rims. Lilly Moreno, also known as the “Energizer Bunny” and staff member at Gem World, painted her bright red recently. Thanks to Moreno and Bowman, she now has a new outfit, and lots of new jewelry! “She loves jewelry and beads, and is very gentle. She hasn’t bit anyone!” said Bowman. Bowman has a won- derful story about Georgette’s mysterious past. Each day there’s more to the story, so make sure to stop by Gem World’s new location at 1330 W. Main and meet Georgette! We’ll be back any day & can’t wait to see all our friends!! Don’s Rocks Decorative Landscaping Hauling, Dumptruck & Backhoe Services Call Don 928-927-3080 208-255-6955
