Mark Twain had this to say about education, “I never let my schooling interfere with my education.” A wise and witty man he was. Many of us would agree that some of the most important lessons we learned in life did not occur in the classroom. Life itself can be the most effective instructor. While much of our education might occur outside the classroom, the classroom remains an awesome place to share your wealth of knowledge with others. Do you have a talent, pool of knowl- edge, educational or work experience that could benefit others? Have you considered teaching? The Arizona Western College–Quartzsite Learning Center is looking for associate faculty from our local area. What is required to teach at a com- munity college? The answer is, it de- pends on the type of course you are teaching. While a master’s degree is required to teach academic courses that result in transferrable college credits, a combination of years of ex- perience and some college can make you eligible to teach other courses. You might even be eligible to teach non-credit classes based solely on your years of experience. Sharing your gift with others can be a truly fulfilling and fun experience. A little extra cash in your pocket can be nice as well. The following classes are examples of frequently requested courses for which we would love to find teachers: gemology, jewelry mak- ing, operating and maintaining an RV, photography, a variety of arts and crafts, sewing, gardening, conversa- tional Spanish and more. Whether you are a degreed profes- sional or simply have a well-honed tal- ent, we’d love to talk with you about teaching possibilities. Stop by and see us at 695 N. Kofa Avenue in Quartz- site, or call us at (928) 927-8299. O 6, 2010 “ADDICTED TO DEALS” • Sterling Rings, Buy One, Get One FREE!
