P 14 .DM. THOUGHTBUSTER.COM By Coach Louise Rouse Turn It Over “Turn it over” is when we surrender and just trust life, when we shift into ap- preciation vs. judgment, when we turn fear into love. When our thoughts are filled with light there is no room for darkness. The practice of “turn it over” as a tool for happiness and success has been in the mainstream for years. Long-term studies confirm “turn it over” is effective, suggesting that “letting it go” creates a more positive attitude, which contributes to greater success in work, improved health, more loving relationships, a higher sense of well-being, and a faster rate of recovery from surgery. But while we may acknowledge “turn it over” has many benefits, it still can be difficult to maintain. So many of us are taught to notice what is wrong, wrecked, or lacking in our lives. And for us to incorporate “turn it over” as a way of life and receive full healing potential in our lives, it needs to become more than just an idea, but a way of life. We have to learn a new way of looking at things, a new habit. And that can take some time. However we can do it. That’s why “Turn it over” makes so much sense. I was recently honored to have been selected to share my inspirational story, “Queen Of Joy” along with 40 oth- er extraordinary women in the highly anticipated book, A Juicy, Joyful Life. All the stories are about how we turned it over, how despite obstacles like anxi- ety, depression, addiction, abuse, or devastating loss, we were able to stand tall in our world and shed light on all those around us. The day the book launched we went to number 1 on Amazon for new releases in self-esteem, and spiritual- ity, and second in happiness. This is what the power of turn it over, can do. Remember that “turn it over” isn’t a blindly optimistic method in which the bad things in life are whitewashed or ignored. It’s more of an inner commitment to what we want to focus our attention on. Light or dark. Of course, pain and injustice exist in this world, but when we focus on the gifts of life, we gain a feel- ing of well being, we “turn it over”. The gifts are feeling balanced in the wheel of life, and it gives us hope. There are many things to be grateful for: the beautiful colorful autumn leaves, the colors in a desert sky, stars at night, friends who listen and really hear, a wel- coming smile, chocolate, your pets, children playing, a good book to read, our health, dragonflies. What’s on your list? When we keep an attitude of gratitude it helps us “turn it over”. Make a game of finding the hidden blessing in a challenging situation. Or when you feel like complaining, make a gratitude list instead. You may be amazed by how much better you will feel. As you practice, an inner shift begins to occur, and you may be delighted to discover how content, happy and hopeful you are feeling. That sense of fulfillment is from learning to “turn it over”.
