O 6, 2010  FROM LETTERS ON PG. 4 Quartzsite Country Bash Priceless! Dear Editor Oh what a fun evening at the ball lake and her volunteers for doing a wonderful job. Her persistence in contacting Harry Luge and following thru in many areas brought her idea to reality. Harry and the band were so enjoyable and receptive to the audi- ence. They also made a point to stay late and sign autographs. Thank you Harry! Of course we feel the most benefit went to the attendees. Thank you to the folks who came out to support this event. Do we think it was a suc- cess? MOST DEFINETLY! Not great in numbers… the beaming smiles on peoples’ faces and the comments said it all. Oh, and one bonus were the tod- dlers, seeing them dance to the music and interact with people was “PRICE- LESS”. So those who didn’t attend, you real- field. As the clouds came, then the downpour and next the hail, I know a lot of prayers were being said, as we were rewarded with a spectacular eve- ning at the Quartzsite Country Bash! We wish to thank Monica Timber- .DM. ously for our first ever Penny Auction held at the Quartzsite Country Bash: Nancy Morey and Robin Mockbe Linda Larson The General Store Hardies Beads & Jewelry Skinners Best Mexican Restaurant Mountain Quail Cafe Main Street Eatery AZ Centennial Committee of Quartz- site! As there are no public funds pro- vided by the state, county or town, pri- vate donations and your generousity will make this year long celebration a positive influence for our town. A special thanks to the volunteers It was a wonderful fundraiser for the Proud Neighbors of Quartzsite Gem World RV Pit Stop that is the envy of other communities throughout the state (our football team is pretty good, too…undefeated!). We have absolutely first class police and fire departments. In the ten years or so I’ve been a resi- dent, I’ve seen roads paved, sidewalks made, street lamps installed, and streets and highways broadened. Sew- er and water lines have been put in all across town, and yes, we’re continuing to put more in. Now there must be something to P 5 cal outages, micro-bursts, and other severe windstorms. We’ve even had a couple of earthquakes! But, with all that, we are still here! We are not go- ing to let one greedy and corrupt man take over our town. We are here to stay. We will remain here long after he has finally left town. So hang in there, folks. Our town is growing and pros- pering, and no one can stop us! Joe Winslow Quartzsite who made the Quartzsite Country Bash a huge success! Be sure to attend our Karaoke Contest Fundraiser on Friday, Oct. 8, 7:30pm at Silly Al’s Pizza! Fun, Prizes, Raffle! Arizona Centennial Committee of Quartzsite Volunteer Board Good people make a town Editor; ly missed out, but hope you will come next time as I am sure it will be bigger and better. Thanks from the AZ Centennial The Arizona Centennial Commitee Wes and Mary Huntley Quartzsite of Quartzsite wishes to send out a Big Thank You to the following individuals and businesses that donated so gener- ting ceremony for another new busi- ness located in Quartzsite. It occurred to me that we have had at least three new businesses open in our town with- in the last month. People will continue to invest in our community because they see a great opportunity. They like our full time population of over 3500 residents, (plus a couple of grumpy old geezers). And, what’s not to like? We have a Library that is second to none in our state. We have a high school Desert Laundry and Propane 30 N. CENTRAL (HWY. 95) VISA & M/C ACCEPTED! PROPANE BEHIND JERKY STORE • EASY IN/OUT! 30 N. It takes a lot of good people to make a town work, and to make it prosper. We have an abundance of good people here in Quartzsite. I know many of our resi- dents are unhappy with the current town political atmosphere, but if you recall, we’ve been through all sorts of adversity before and we’re still here! In the early 90’s we had venal and cor- rupt politicians. Over the years, we’ve had Monsoon floods, terrible electri- DEADLINE for the Oct. 20th Desert Messenger is WED.
