ByJanieMcCauley TheAssociatedPress SAN FRANCISCO Owner Mark Davis has a sly response when it comes to his interest in moving the Oakland Raiders to Sin City. "First off, what happens in Ve- gas stays in Vegas," he cracked with a grin Friday. As hard as Davis tried to keep the attention Friday on an an- nouncement about Oakland's Nov. 21 Monday night game against the Texans in Mexico City, the relocation issue came up in a hurry. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell pledged Friday "to do everything possible" to help Oakland and the San Diego Chargers work to get new sta- diums in their current markets. "The league supports both of these teams, but we are work- ing very hard with not only the teams, but the communities to try to find a solution that works for everybody," Goodell said at his annual Super Bowl week news conference. "This has to work for the communities, and it has to work for the teams long term." The Rams have moved to Los Angeles from St. Louis and will start playing there for the 2016 season. The Chargers are stay- ing put for the 2016 season, but chairman Dean Spanos has an option to join the Rams at a new stadium being built in Ingle- wood if the city and team can't work out a deal. The Raiders also wanted to move to Los Angeles, and Davis might now look at other cities if the franchise can't work out a stadium deal with Oakland. By Howard Fendrich The Associated Press SAN FRANCISCO Call it the Odell Beckham Jr. Rule. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is pushing to require the ejection of any player who is flagged for two personal fouls in a game. "We should take that out of the hands of the officials when it gets to that point. They will obviously have to throw the flag, but when they do, we will look to see if we can reach an agreement on the conditions for which (a player would) be ejected," Goodell said Friday at his annual state-of-the-league news conference ahead of the Super Bowl. "I believe that's consistent with what we believe are the safety issues," he said, "but I also believe it's consistent with what we believe are the standards of sportsmanship." In December, Beckham, a re- ceiver for the New York Giants, was allowed to stay in a game despite drawing three personal- foul penalties for unnecessary roughness, including one for a diving helmet-to-helmet hit on cornerback Josh Norman, whose Carolina Panthers will play in Sunday's Super Bowl. The two players engaged in all sorts of pro wrestling-style shenanigans throughout the game, and Beck- ham eventually was suspended for New York's next game. "I thought both of them should have been ejected back then," Giants owner John Mara said, "but maybe if we had this rule, it would make it a little bit more clearer." Goodell said he had already recommended to the league's competition committee that it consider the rule change. Mara, a member of that com- mittee, said Friday's discussion of the proposal was the first he'd heard of it, but that he is "in- clined to go in that direction" to "maybe take it out of the offi- cials' discretion." He noted that there would need to be careful consideration of which personal fouls would be counted toward an ejection; an incidental facemask penalty, for example, should not, in Mara's view. Kansas City Chiefs CEO Clark Hunt likened it to a soccer player being sent off after getting two yellow cards in a game. "You don't want to see some- body get carried away, where something bad happens on the football field, where now all of a sudden you are going from one thing to another and it leads to a bad set of circumstances and somebody gets hurt," Panthers coach Ron Rivera said Friday. "I can see that being part of our discussions." TUNEIN Staff Reports RED BLUFF The Lady Spartans performed well but were over- matched Thursday night against the league-leading Pleasant Valley Vikings, 68-45, at home. "We got off to a great start lead- ing 9-7 four minutes into the first quarter but couldn't keep up with their bench," coach Kathy Brandt said. "They are 10 deep and very athletic. I was proud of my team for playing hard and never giv- ing up." Allyson Drury led the Spartans with 14 points, six rebounds, an assist and a steal. Kylee Kitchell put up 12 points and had five rebounds, three as- sists and a steal; Jesse Miller had seven points, four rebounds, six assists and a steal and Maggie Winning had four points, two as- sists and two steals. Sancia Velas- quez had three assists and four rebounds. Maybe it's just too easy to for- get that every key architect of this season's Broncos, from general manager John Elway and coach Gary Kubiak on down, was men- tored by Reeves, who led Denver to three Super Bowl appearances nearly three decades ago. And too hard to realize that, in a round- about way, he influenced the way this edition of the team was built. The bloodlines run deep, yet the patriarch is well outside of the current inner circle. On Sun- day, he'll turn on the TV at home in Atlanta and watch from afar as Denver faces the Carolina Pan- thers in the big game, "cheering for the Broncos, without ques- tion," the 72-year-old Reeves said in a telephone interview.
