Page 4 I love this town! In the October 5th issue [of Desert Messenger] I found a very disturb- ing letter from someone who asked their name to be withheld to protect identity. My husband and I have lived in Quartzsite for the last 4 years and manage an RV Park of 42 spaces. I do not know where this person lives but they must hang out in the bars. In our Park we are full every winter and our Winter Visitors love to come here. We have potlucks every month, campfires every night and no one drinks at any event at our club house. I do not see the hate that this person QIA Welcome Back Snowbirds! QIA OPENS NOV 1ST Office hours: 9am-12 noon. • BINGO begins Friday, Nov. 4th. Open at 5pm. Early Birds 6:30pm. Main at 7pm. Ironwood St., Quartzsite www.DesertMessenger.com sees. As for me and my husband, we see a lot of loving people who love to work for the betterment of the Town and Community. I have seen lots of positive things happening here. Yes, there are a few grumpy people who can't seem to say anything good. But to them I say leave and go somewhere where people don't care. Yes, the politics have gotten out of THE PEOPLE'S VOICE Thank you to QPD & Town October 19, 2011 Paw Power update First and foremost we would like to employees I am an owner of two RV parks. Of- ten we call on the police to settle dis- putes with my tenants. The officers are prompt, courteous and treat my rent- ers and me with respect and fairness. I can't run my parks without them. Chief Jeff Gilbert, his officers, his hand, but I feel with the last election we are on the right track. As for me and my home my husband, we plan to live here until the Lord takes us home. To "Being positive is exhausting," be- ing grumpy is even more exhausting and bad for your health. I don't know how long you have lived here but go out and meet the people at the QIA, Senior Center, try visiting our Town Library or walk along the beautiful walkways that the Town has put in. When I go to the Post office everyone who you greet, says Hi and holds the door open for you. As for the ones who gossip, well, walk away you don't have to listen to it. Main St. wife, Alex Taft, and Al Johnson have been harassed, lied about and humili- ated by a small group of misfits. It is time the good law abiding citizens of Quartzsite give them the praise they justly deserve! For those of you who hate our officers and town employees, stop and think! The day may come when you need to call for their help. They will put aside all the hate you have shown them and they will assist you in the same pro- fessional manner as the rest of the Quartzsite citizens receive. Thank all of your dedicated employ- ees for their help! Frank Laurer Cactus Patch and Jem RV Park around Quartzsite. We are blessed with intelligent civic minded people, with clever ideas. The ideas aren't al- ways original but it takes talent and will to bring it all together. Things like movies in the park. The Christmas Light, Hi Jolly and the Four-Wheeler ATV Parades. How about Coffee with Cops? Sure I know those things are done by organizations and committees but somewhere there is the leader who said," Let's do this thing." Coming up is something new in Quartz- site, called Spirit Walk. It's a Cemetery thing about Old Timers, Settlers and victims of violence. It takes place be- tween three and six o'clock Saturday, October 29th at Hi Jolly Cemetery. Come and join us for a new and unique experience. Elmer F. London Around Town There is always something afoot thank all of the community, both ev- eryday residents and winter visitor that have supported the shelter with donations and support, for the 18 months we have been open. Even though we are closed until fur- ther notice, we do still have 30 + cats here that need Forever Homes, food and litter to survive while still here. The donation boxes are still in place at The Eatery and 3X family restaurant for any monetary donations you would like to make. Every Penny helps. Contact us at 928-916-0657 if you have any questions or want to adopt a wonderful kitty. Thank You, Patty Williams Walking for health Our local library has a wonderful book, CHI WALKING by Danny and Katherine Dreyer that shares all the bountiful benefits of walking, and our beautiful walking paths are just wait- ing to serve us! One of the greatest virtues of walk- ing is healthy equilibrium which main- tains a balance in our brains, our bod- ies, and our lives. According to CHI WALKING "Falling accounts for over half of the accidental deaths in the elderly." An enjoyable walk of some 30 minutes daily greatly reduces the chance of falling because of the balance required in walking, a balance that carries over into the rest of one's day. We have beautiful walking paths to choose from, and more on the way thanks to our town manager who knows the value of beauty and health. Catch the sunrise, enjoy the sunset, or find virtue in the pleasantries of an af- ternoon stroll...no matter when in the day, make it a habit to walk at least once a day!
