December 18, 2013 Salome High updates By Kirshana Guy The Building Trades classes worked hard to finish the house they constructed in Indian Hills. The open house was held on Dec. 5, from 1-3 p.m. The Building Trades is auctioning the house using the sealed bid process. The basketball players attended the Phoenix Country Day School Tournament Dec. 6 and 7, where they played their best. The girls' basketball season has finally begun, only one game later than the boys' starting season. Finals are approaching and the end of the first semester is Dec. 20. The entire school was delighted to cheer on the basketball players before their game Dec. 10. The girls' basketball teams had their first official game Nov. 26 against Salt River. The girls practiced hard and were thrilled to begin their season. The boys' basketball teams had played against Mayer on Dec. 10, where the Varsity boys won 49-48. The Basketball teams will have five games before the last day of the first semester, which will be Dec.20. Students have been focusing on and off campus to be ready for the upcoming finals week. Finals week begins with one full day of school on Monday, and the rest of the week is short days for class finals. The last day of school, Dec. 20, not only marks the end of second quarter, end of first semester, but it is the last day before Winter Break. Friday, Dec. 20, is a makeup day for any student that may have missed any of their finals tests during the week. Students will be released at 1:05 p.m. NOW OPEN! n! Same Locatio CRAFTS on early release days. Salome High School's Art Club attended the craft fair that was held Nov. 30 through Dec. 1 at Tyson Wells. The students were selling crafts made and painted by hand to raise money for Art Club activities, such as decorating trash cans to put around campus. The students sold duct tape bow clips and hair ties, and ornaments for Christmas and Support the Troops, Breast cancer, and Heart disease. They also sold handmade jewelry. Thank you to everyone who contributed to Salome High School's Art Club!
