December 18, 2013 31 www.DesertMessenger.com WAM donates to Food Bank Quartzsite, AZ - When Wickenburg Alternative Medicine (W.A.M.) opened in April of this year, they made a commitment to give back to the community as soon as possible. Beginning in November, W.A.M. began donating $200 worth of fresh produce to the local food bank during the first week of the month. Arrangements were made to purchase the fresh produce through Don and Lois Moore's Quartzsite General Store. W.A.M. is the first La Paz County medical marijuana dispensary to open and serve the needs of patients who choose to use this alternative method of medicating in lieu of pharmaceuticals that often have devastating side effects. Stories abound of successful outcomes from patients who have been able to decrease or eliminate pharmaceuticals while using medical grade marijuana products, resulting in a better quality of life. Parkinson's, Cancer, Multiple Sclerosis, Seizures, Muscle Spasms, Insomnia, Anxiety, Severe and Chronic Pain, Nausea, Glaucoma, Alzheimer's, Crohn's Disease, AIDS/HIV, are just a few of the conditions that have responded well to medical marijuana. W.A.M. offers alternatives to smoking medical marijuana like using vaporizers, ointments and edibles. W.A.M.'s marijuana grow facility, Wickenburg Alternative Medicine Grow, is based in Wickenburg, Arizona. The Grow will soon harvest a strain of marijuana with a high Cannabinoids (CBD) DEADLINE IS WED DEC. 25 for Jan. 1st edition content which provides relief for medical conditions without the high usually associated with the psychoactive effects of the increased Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) content of medical marijuana. Educational materials are available at the W.A.M. dispensary at 511 East Main Street in Quartzsite. Information is available for those entertaining the idea of trying this route of medication, including the benefits and side effects. Information is also available regarding how to apply for a state issued Medical Marijuana Registry Identification Card that allows the patient to legally possess up to 2.5 ounces of marijuana. With continued growth, W.A.M. is hoping to increase their ability to donate back to the community in coming months.
