It is home to a number of events and gatherings, from family reunions to dodgeball tournaments. Many of its amenities are free and open to the public daily or weekly, including a walking track and a fitness room with stationary bikes and elliptical machines. Patrons can enjoy separate youth, family, adult and senior open gym times. For low prices, patrons can take advantage of Zumba and belly danc- ing classes, soccer, taekwondo, king fu, tai chi and break dancing, among other things. Kiwanis Recreation Center also provides meeting space for groups such as Fayetteville Kiwanis Club, Girl Scouts, Fayetteville Brain Injury Support Group, Chess Club, Latinos United for Progress and the Society of Creative Anachronism. Amenities available for rental use include the gymnasium, large and small program/meeting rooms, a banquet room that holds up to 250 people and a commercial kitchen. Catering is also available. New this year and winner of Best Use of Local Tax Dollars is the Kiwanis Splash Pad open to all ages. The Splash Pad is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and 1-6 p.m. on Sundays through Sept. 30.
