When choosing canned or non-perishable food items, think of the "good stuff", such as canned tuna/chicken, chili, vegetables, healthy soup/stew, pasta sauce, whole grain cereal and pasta, peanut butter etc. Foods high in fat, oils, and sugar provide calories, but few nutrients. These foods make up a high percentage of many diets because they are inexpensive and easy to obtain. It is therefore important to provide healthful foods for those with limited fi nancial resources to supplement their restricted choices with healthy alternatives. Please drop off your non-perishable food donations at Arizona Western Col- lege-Quartzsite Learning Center, 695 N. Kofa Ave. or call 928-927-8299 with any questions.
