Page 4 OPINION winter visitors. We're so glad to have you returning to Quartzsite. Most visitors and Quartzsite residents are responsible pet owners, but I'd like to remind everyone to clean up af- ter your dog when walking along the town streets or in public areas. Carry bags, but do not deposit in the washes; please dispose properly. It's up to each of us to do our part in keeping Quartz- site clean and doggie do-free. Also please be cautious about feeding the wildlife; keep them wild. Support your local businesses and shop locally. Hello Neighbors, Welcome back to our friends and www.DesertMessenger.com THE PEOPLE'S VOICE Patricia Anderson Quartzsite Town Council panderson@ci.quartzsite.az.us Let unscrupulous dissidents win? Recent events here are providing transparency, exposing any corrup- tion in Government and should help solve the issues. Thank you so much Laura Bruno! You'd think everyone would come together now. I was giv- ing everyone the benefi t of the doubt. With all the good that's happening, I'm shocked these "unscrupulous dissi- dents" are getting much nastier. They LETTERS TO EDITOR POLICY Desert Messenger encourages letters from its readers. Letters should be no longer than 300 words, and may be ed- ited for grammar, content and length. OPINIONS EXPRESSED HERE DO NOT NECESSARILY REPRESENT THOSE OF THE DESERT MESSENGER. We invite you to not only see a prob- can't blame their shenanigans on cor- rupt government because that's being fi xed! It's now impossible to consider Jennifer, Roth, Foster, Workman, Old- ham and their group, want anything good for Quartzsite. They want to DE- STROY Quartzsite and profi t from it all they can in the process. On 09/26/2012 Jennifer Jones and Michael Roth served the Council and Town with lawsuits. Someone said Jennifer would settle for $750,000. Same day, Jennifer spoke to Coun- cil, promising another lawsuit if they dared pass an agenda item. Jennifer has sued Quartzsite repeatedly, los- ing all. She represents herself so her costs are low, but Quartzsite's costs are enormous (especially with Risk Pool problems). These GREEDY peo- ple sue Quartzsite repeatedly and we just ignore it! The money comes from us! It appears Jennifer, Roth, Foster, etc. do nuisance lawsuits in part so the Risk Pool drops Quartzsite, causing bankruptcy and un-incorporation, so there are no rules or law here. Roth's blog comment, 9-26-2012, "Gov- ernment IS the problem. Get rid of it. Quartzsite was much more free and much more prosperous before they incorpo- rated. UN-INCORPORATE NOW!" They don't care about Quartzsite and La Paz Taxpayers; There are things going on in this coun- ty of which you need to be aware. The activity going on affects you directly in your pocketbook and has a negative ef- fect upon our students. We are paying way too much property tax for what we are getting. You can check out my fi gures by contacting the County Trea- surer's Offi ce. The students of La Paz County are not getting the education they deserve. We have tried to bring construction trades, solar training, welding, automotive, air conditioning, as well as a larger offering of Personal Enrichment classes to our seniors but the Yuma Administration of AWC has blocked our efforts. Following are 10 points of which every resident of La Paz County should be aware: 1) For the past 6 years, the Arizona Western College (AWC) Administra- tion in Yuma has taken over 4 million dollars per year of La Paz County Prop- erty Tax dollars and has given back less than 1 million dollars in services. 2) During that same time they built lem, but search for the solution to share with the community, keeping the beneit of all in mind. Letters considered libelous, in poor common or similar names, writers must provide a full name and indicate the name they are known by. Writers must provide a full street address and phone number. Rvers can provide the location of park/BLM land, etc. Street addresses will not be published. Phone numbers are for veriication only and will not be printed. Mail letters to: Desert Messenger, P.O. Third party letters will not be accepted. To avoid confusion over people with do this for GREED and personal rea- sons. They'll likely keep suing Quartz- site until there's no Town. These select nasty people are our enemies. Why don't people stand up to these bullies? Anyone that advertises in Jennifer's trashy paper or supports these people are helping them destroy Quartzsite. I won't support businesses that adver- tise in her paper and hope everyone feels the same. Proud Fulltime Quartzsite Resident Write-in CONSTABLE JP 4 Court Ron Jones two facilities in La Paz County that are inferior to any of the other build- ings recently built in the AWC College District and have refused for over 3 years to correct any of the many de- fects and problems. 3) The Administration in Yuma October 3, 2012 equitable deal. 5) Yuma is taking 3 out of every 4 dollars collected for the education of our students while doing little more than shuffl ing papers 6) What AWC Yuma does for the La Paz operation is similar to what an ad- ministrator does for the grantee of a grant. If the Yuma Administration got 20% of the La Paz operational budget, we could double the amount of services delivered in the county. This would al- low AWC La Paz to deliver badly need- ed college services where currently no college services are delivered (Salome, Wenden, Bouse, Ehrenberg, etc.). 7) In addition to doubling services we could cut the property tax collected for AWC by almost one half. 8) AWC in La Paz is not allowed to run their own operation in the best interest of our tax payers and the stu- dents they pay to educate. 9) The residents of La Paz need to control how THEIR money is being spent on THEIR students in THEIR college in THEIR county. 10) Yuma out numbers La Paz on the AWC District Governing Board 3 to 2. Your AWC representatives here in La Paz are Randy Hartless and Anna Ca- macho, you also need to let President Mayle know how you feel, his number is 928-344-7501. Jim Brouillette www.facebook.com/ stopthebleedinglapaz and formed our own county, La Paz was required by the State of Arizo- na to be affi liated with a University or Community College. It may now make more sense to develop a new relationship with another University or Community College who will give the La Paz County tax payers a more spent in the neighborhood of 3 ½ million dollars to build the Parker and Quartzsite facilities. 4) When we broke off from Yuma Foster's real agenda On September fi fth I had a letter, in this paper, about the risk of town ac- tions attracting investigating report- ers. Who would thought it might be, the venerable Wall Street Journal? In one of the replies to the article, some one used the same line I did. (you only wrote this to titillate your readers ) According to the article, Ed Foster STARR BearCat St BeCa Paid for by Starr BearCat, PO Box 3185, Quartzsite, AZ 85359 • ElectStarrBearCat@yahoo.com fi nally revealed his real agenda. His reach for power and willingness to get it by lawsuit after lawsuit. A mayor has no individual power unless the council is loaded with his followers, with no will of their own. A soul with- out shame is a lost soul. It's not necessarily Fosters fault this is happening. It's really the fault of the people behind him urging him on and willing to foot the bill. It's like the fi ght behind the school house. If it weren't for the Wimps urging the fi ghters on, there would likely be no fi ght. SEE LETTERS PAGE 5
