January 18, 2012 AUTHORS FROM PAGE 8 hostess for the fair, Debbie Hilbish, from Quartzsite, who has published two beauti- ful books of poetry "Bits and Pieces" and "Life Dream Collisions". These books are beautifully illustrated with photos. She also printed a line of cards with her awe- some pictures. Some of the other authors who have come this week include Sandra Moore Bernsen, who wrote a heartfelt book about her life experiences after losing one child to a dis- abling disease at 2 1/2 and her other son at 21 to an accidental gunshot. She also lost her husband shortly after to another terminal disease. Her faith was tested, but she came out much stronger than she even expected, and hopes her story will help others. Laurie Homan was here this week with her first of three books about her life sto- ry also, "The Journey Within", a child's memoir which chronicles her life through childhood sexual abuse and incest, and her uplifting account of how she started recov- ering from it. A very haunting account of one child's journey. Another author, Baron Manfred von Vierthaler, a former race car driver, wine- maker and businessman wrote a novel "Si- erra Madre Gold", an adventure thriller. He also wrote three travel books on his expe- riences touring in his motor home--"From Scandinavia via Black Sea to Germany", "From Acapulco to Gibralter" and "From Gibralter via Russia to Scandinavia". Elton Mellum is a Colorado cowboy hu- morist who writes in rhymes and his three books include "A Buncha Bull", "There is a Hunter's Hell", and "Never Kiss a Horse on the Mouth". Judi Blaze brought her novels, "On Indian Time", "Riding a Rainbow", and "Normal People are Those we Don't Know Well", all based on true life experiences. Other authors planning to be here this month include Darlene Miller, return- ing with her humorous books about RV- ing—"RV Chuckholes and Chuckles", and "More RV Chuckholes and Chuckles". New authors Dick and Kay D. Johynson will be here with their book "Sail Around the World". Judy Apple will bring her new book "Amazing Attribute of Aging", and Helen Taylor will have her new book "Grandma's Other Life". Another author who will be coming is Judy Howard, who wrote a funny book called "Coast to Coast with a cat and a ghost"--a book about her travels across country following the death NEED CASH? Blythe resident and author Art Wilson, who wrote the history of the B29 air base in Blythe, will also be coming when he can, and many other authors have committed to coming during the next weeks of the fair. Anyone who visits the authors booths and gets them to sign a paper saying that they have been there is eligible for a draw- ing for a free $20.00 gift certificate--there will be names drawn on January 28, Feb- ruary 11 and February 25 so be sure to get your papers filled out and join in the raffle--no cost but lots of fun!!
