over the last year that no milestone is too small to celebrate, including walk- ing into a non-handicapped bathroom stall for the first time and "doing a happy dance." Gov. Deval Patrick spoke of how the attack has drawn people closer. "There are no strangers here," he repeated through - out his speech. Carlos Arredondo, the cowboy hat-wearing specta- tor who was hailed as a hero for helping the wounded af- ter the bombings, said he went to the tribute cere- mony to support survivors and their families. "You can see how the whole community gathered together to support them and remember," Arredondo said. After the tributes, many of those in attendance walked in the rain to the finish line for a moment of silence that coincided with the time when the bombs went off. Bells rang, and a flag was raised by tran - sit agency police Officer Richard Donohue, who was badly injured during a shootout with the bombing suspects. Aleksander Jonca wore a blue windbreaker from last year's race, which he was unable to finish be - cause of the bombings. He's running again this year, with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. "All of us have a different path to heal, and I think to - day is a good way to do that together and honor the sur- vivors," Jonca said. Earlier in the day, a wreath-laying ceremony drew the families of the three people killed — Mar - tin Richard, Krystle Camp- bell and Lu Lingzi — and Collier's relatives. Associated Press writer Philip Marcelo contributed to this report. Tributes From Page 1 MLB BaseBaLL Los angeles Dodgers at san Francisco Giants: 7 p.m., (21, 31). Torres was injured on Sept. 20 in a collision with Anaheim Ducks forward Emerson Etem during an exhibition game. He un - derwent surgery six days later. After the NHL's break for the Sochi Olympics, Torres made his season debut on Feb. 28 against the Phila - delphia Flyers and scored two goals in a 7-3 victory. He took the next game off then played four straight games, scoring a goal and record - ing two assists during that stretch as the Sharks beat New Jersey, lost to Caro- lina then beat Pittsburgh and Montreal. Torres appeared to have made a successful recovery from knee surgery, but that Montreal game on March 8 turned out to be his last reg - ular-season appearance. "I got a few bounces to go my way," Torres said. "At the end of the day I just go by how I feel. Sometimes I feel terrible out there and score a couple goals, kind of how I did in Philly. I know phys - ically I could be a lot better there. It was nice to contrib- ute for five games, for sure, don't get me wrong. I just want to be able to feel good at the end of the game." L a st sea son Tor res played in only the first game of the Sharks' second-round series against Los Angeles, which they lost in seven games. He was suspended for the rest of that series for a hit to the head of Kings forward Jarret Stoll. That marked the fourth career suspension for Torres. If he does play against Los Angeles, Torres plans to play his typical aggres - sive, hard-hitting game, but he knows there's a line he can't cross. "I understand that I've got a little bit more of a tar - get on my back," said Tor- res, who signed a three- year, $6 million contract extension in June. "I'll have to be careful out there, for sure." Losing Tor res a f ter Game 1 against the Kings last season was a huge blow to the Sharks, who had swept Vancouver in the first round. Getting Torres back to face the Kings this year would provide a big boost, Sharks center Logan Cou - ture said. "I don't know if he is go- ing to (play), but he'd bring energy," Couture said. "His style of game, he's hard on the forecheck. He creates momentum for our team. The crowd enjoys when he's on the ice. Hopefully, we'll get him back." Sharks From Page 1 ference and will most likely begin the postseason at the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday or Sunday. Defending DeAndre Jor - dan and Blake Griffin of the Clippers, of course, could pose a major problem with- out Bogut in the paint. Bogut averaged just 7.3 points, 10 rebounds and 1.81 blocks in 67 games this season, but he is among the league leaders in several de - fensive ratings and played a major role in Golden State's run to the second round of last year's playoffs. Com - plicating matters more, the Warriors have just one healthy big man behind Bogut. Last year's backup cen - ter, Festus Ezeli, has been out all season recovering from right knee surgery and is not ready to play. Jackson also indicated that seldom- used reserve centers Hil - ton Armstrong and Ognjen Kuzmic are likely not op- tions to suddenly start log- ging heavy minutes at the most important time of the year. But spreading the floor with smaller lineups has produced some of Golden State's h ighest- scor ing games, including a 130 - 120 victory over Minne - sota on Monday night. The lineup allows more spacing for streaky shoot- ing guards Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, and more room for penetration by forwards such as David Lee, Draymond Green, An - dre Iguodala and Harrison Barnes. Jackson said his lineups will depend on matchups, but his most likely option is one he has had mixed suc - cess with this season: slid- ing Lee and Marreese Spei- ghts to center and moving up Green and Barnes to power forward. It's a combination players certainly endorse. "We like to push the ball and get up and down with that lineup, and it works to our advantage," said Green, who scored a career-high 20 points and tied a ca - reer-best with 12 rebounds against the Timberwolves on Monday night. "Me and David play well with each other. Both of us can pass the ball really well, knock shots down and it stretches the defense out." Playing short-handed is something the Warriors have done successfully, at times, the past two years. Bogut, Iguodala, Lee and O'Neal all sat out prolonged stretches with various inju - ries this season. Bogut also missed 50 games recover- ing from left ankle surgery last year, and Lee tore his right hip flexor in the first round of the playoffs against Denver — missing four games and playing a lim - ited role when he returned. The Warriors, who also were the No. 6 seed last year, upset the Nuggets be - fore losing to the eventual Western Conference cham- pion San Antonio Spurs in six games. The Clippers could pose a much tougher challenge this time, es - pecially with point guard Chris Paul healthy again and Doc Rivers as coach. The Warriors and Clip - pers split the four-game season series, with each team winning twice on its home floor. The animosity between the suddenly re - surgent franchises — in- cluding a Christmas Day game marred by multiple ejections and technical fouls — also should give Golden State a boost of motivation without Bogut. "We hope a miracle hap - pens with Andrew," Curry said. "We'll see what hap- pens, but as a team we're fo- cused on what the challenge ahead of us is and we've got to move forward." The Pump and Run is a bench press and 5k competition. Participants will weigh in the morning of 6/7/14 at 8am at TFFC, and bench press either their body weight or a percentage of it, depending on age and gender (divisions) with a maximum of 30 reps. Each completed repetition of the bench press will reduce individuals 5K times by 30 seconds. The 5K race will take place once all competitors have attempted the bench press. The 5K course will begin and finish at TFFC. The majority of the race course loops through the Hospital campus. TFFC hopes to inspire the runner to lift weights and the weight lifter to run!
