In a press release, Sheriff Larry Jones states next of kin have been notified, and the Sheriff's Office can confirm the deaths of Michael Lee Myvett Jr., 29, of Los Angeles; Ismael Jimenez, 18, of Inglewood; Paul Evans, 32, of Elk Grove; and Talalelei Feleni Lealao-Taiao, 53, of Sacramento. Myvett Jr. was one of the three chaperons onboard the Setra Mo - tor Coach bus that was hit head- on by a FedEx 2007 Volvo tractor- trailer on Thursday. His fiancee, Mattison Haywood, was traveling with Myvett and was reportedly also killed in the crash, according to the Associated Press. Additional amendments added a requirement for a yearly renewal of mari - juana cultivation registra- tions and transferred en- forcement of those regis- trations from the Tehama County Hea lth Ser v ices A gency to the Env iron- ment a l Hea lt h D epa r t - ment. The amendments were met with applause from a handful of Rancho Tehama Reserve residents in atten - dance. Residents there say illicit activity has increased un- der the guise of medicinal marijuana grows in their community. "It's a scary place to be right now," one resident said. "We are not a subdivision of pot farms," said another. The board adopted the amended ordinance as an urgency ordinance, citing an earlier than usual start to the marijuana growing season. The amendments were proposed by the board's marijuana cultivation Ad Hoc Committee, consist - ing of Supervisors Steve Chamblin and Bob Wil- liams. The committee said ban- ning grows on vacant lots was in similar fashion to other local counties' regu- lations. It a lso believed that grows on vacant lots were more likely to violate reg - ulations and be diverted to non-medical use. As for the requirement for yearly registration, the committee said it found registrants were not keep - ing their information up- dated. A hearing to raise the fee for registration is sched- uled for the April 29 board meeting. The coming growing sea- son will be the first under the new regulations. The board has also in- creased staffing levels to enforce the ordinance in the coming months. The Red Bluff Police De - partment and Tehama County Sheriff's Office hosted its sec- ond annual fundraiser to ben- ef it their canine programs, raising money for supplies, training and reserve funds in case something "horrific" hap - pens to the departments' four- pawed partners.
