F������� 16, 2011 LETTERS FROM PAGE 4 SAFETY VERSUS OPPOSITION The current council’s goal is to make Quartzsite a safe, enjoyable place to live (except Mayor Foster). EVERYONE hates water/sewer increases. Unfortunately, past councils illegally subsidized these rates. Now we’re paying for past sins. There’s NO CHOICE, this is the ONLY council who setup increases so rates will pay costs. If not done, Arizona would demand private contractors making rates SKYROCKET. The opposing candidates have TOTALLY different views about government. They say things are terrible here and they can fi x it. Don’t believe them! I totally agree, State and Federal governments are too large and wasteful. That’s not true of Quartzsite. Quartzsite supports HUGE numbers of visitors (helping Quartzsite fi nancially very little) and we’re still doing great. The opposition HATES the town manager, police chief, building offi cials, water/sewer fees, rules in general. They seem “hell bent” on UN-incorporating Quartzsite which would be a disaster. They don’t want rules and would HATE ANY town manager, police chief, building offi cial, etc. Aguilla is an example of loose QUARTZSITE VOTER ALERT, Double, double toil and trouble. The burning fi re and the bubbling cauldron stirred by the Coalition may well signal the importance of the up-coming election. You now have six mutually cooperative council people, concerned for the welfare of the town. You have a mayor, backed by followers and supporters who trash the town worldwide through Internet blogs. It’s not a pretty picture; is it? Yet, you as the voters, have to make the choice. Do you want to support the dissenters and rabble rousing element with no known agenda but hate and discontent? Or do you want to support those who love the town, care and understand the needs of the people? Let’s vote to keep the real spirit of Quartzsite glowing and vote to ensure it endures. Elmer F. London Quartzsite INTERESTING OBSERVATION!!! Another successful event took place here regulations the opposition party wants. I have friends there and have seen the PROBLEMS. The market had many robberies, owners raped and several owners murdered. The store’s surrounded by huge barbed-wire fencing (like a prison) which doesn’t help. Many citizens carry visible fi rearms. Is that what we want for Quartzsite? Rules make Quartzsite safe and enjoyable. Rules without enforcement are worthless. Jade’s ridiculous edited videos show police and building offi cial “brutality”. What a laugh, they show the opposite. Our offi cials show amazing restraint to a totally belligerent, out-of-control person. View the videos and see for yourself. It’s unbelievable Jade is running for council. Maybe the people who don’t want rules should move to a place like Aguilla. The police do an AMAZING job here. I’ve never seen a safer place to live! As one who has some involvement in the behind the scenes action, I am always amazed at how everything falls into place at each and every event and everyone has a great time. What I noticed was that all but 2 of our council people were present. Missing was Jose Lizarraga, on duty at the time, and our Mayor. This was an event to kick off the AZ Centennial of Quartzsite and support Willpower in their fundraising efforts. There was no one campaigning at the event which made it very enjoyable. While there is nothing that says that the candidates running for offi ce need to make an appearance at these types of events, I fi nd it interesting that the entire group of opposition to our current council, who are asking for your vote in this upcoming election, did not show to this event, or any recent events for our community that I have attended. How can they honestly think that they may be able to pass resolutions and ordinances for your community, a community in which they do not even participate. It is certainly food for thought!
