Quartzsite has ex- perienced quite a momentum shift this past month. The throngs of visitors, the beautiful weather, the international media coverage, thousands of RVers enjoying the Sonoran Desert, respectful Town Hall meetings, Municipal meet- ings fi lled with positive ideas for the benefi t of Quartzsite, vendors sharing suggestions and being heard by local offi cials, volunteers helping with all the amazing charities & organizations... ...and then there’s the politics. Oops, where’d the momentum go? I know, ya’ll all don’t want me to go there, but sometimes things just need to be ad- dressed. The momentum of this past season is moving forward toward suc- cess! Next year will be only be bigger and better, if we are all proactive! For this issue, I offered ALL candidates running for a council seat the opportu- nity to respond to four questions (even the write-ins). Their answers start on page 29. Why some chose not to reply is only a guess. Check it out for yourself, for there’s some good reading there. Quartzsite is in a full forward progress works in Quartzsite area! NEW! 12v TVS! Kuehn 302-531-6401 Founded by Walt Akin, October 1, 2004 Contributing Writer, Joanne Winer F 16, 2011 Editorial BY SHANANA “RAIN” GOLDEN-BEAR with many projects happening all over town. All you have to do is look around and you can see construction, beautifi - cation, walkways, events being planned for the community to have that sense of place and connection with each other. The momentum that this community is experiencing can only be built upon with respect and cooperation. When some in politics create friction for the sake of destroying the positive, please research the message. Does it come from a publisher of a paper operating without a business license? Does that paper offer a special discounted rate if the advertiser agrees not to advertise in this publication?(copy on fi le) Com- petition is one thing, but this is at best, unethical and full of frictional energy! Back to momentum....Quartzsite is moving foward with many folks step- ping up to help. One gal suggested, if everyone in town volunteered one hour a week to better this community, imag- ine where we would be in fi ve years! The world just witnessed the people of Egypt creating change in a peaceful and orderly manner. The protestors even cleaned up after themselves, providing the rest of the world a beautiful exam- ple of creating momentum in a positive way. What can we, in Quartzsite, learn from them? Will we communicate in a way that propels us forward? How will you help sustain momentum for the future of Quartzsite? The past 99 years of Arizona’s statehood could not have happened without coop- eration and respect. Let’s think of the next 100 years, for our future generations when making important decisions.
