F������� 16, 2011 Featuring Greg Scott, Nogales Greg Scott is an educator, historian, and musician. His lifelong interest in Arizona cowboy folk music has taken him throughout the state and the West, researching the songs and the people who sang them. Scott has been a Traditional Music Roster Artist for the Arizona Commission on the Arts and regularly performs at schools, li- braries, museums, and festivals. Featuring songs of the “Cherrycows:” Cowboy Folk Music and its Changing View of the West. Like Arizonans of every occupation, the turn of the last century cowboys of the Chiricahua Cattle Company (the Cherrycows) had arrived in the Terri- tory from every direction. The songs they sang to entertain themselves included old ballads from the Brit- ish Isles, topical songs and materials from the new technology of recorded music. Their stories and songs refl ect some of the dramatic changes taking place in the decade before statehood. This program will provide a multi- media presentation of the songs of some of the last open range cowboys in Arizona. Using period instruments, recordings and photographs, this talk ���.D����� M��������.��� EVENING PROGRAM AT TOWN HALL FEB. 24, 7PM will focus on the songs which marked the end of a colorful era in Arizona his- tory.
