F 2, 2011 UROLOGIST OPENS PARKER PRACTICE PARKER, ARIZONA- Hospital officials announced today the addition of Dr. Robert S. Nickolisen to the La Paz Re- gional Hospital Medical Staff. Dr. Nickolisen is a Board Certified Urologist with over 25 years’ experi- ence. He opened Western Urological Associates, P.C., at 601 Riverside Drive, Suite 3, in Parker on January 17. “We are fortunate that Dr. Nickolisen chose Parker for his practice,” said Vickie Clark, CEO. “Our Board is very committed to re- cruiting specialists to La Paz County and many people have voiced a need for urology. Western Urologi- cal Associates will be a state of the art facility, with new equipment – cystos- copies, microscopes, ultrasound, etc – for diagnostic and therapeutic inter- vention. The hospital has purchased $163,000 in urologic equipment, in- cluding new urology surgical table, cystoscopies, surgical intervention video tower, instruments and more. Urology is the surgical specialty that focuses on the urinary tract of males and females, and on the reproductive system of males. Physicians specializ- ing in the field of urology such as Dr. Nickolisen are trained to diagnose, treat, and manage patients with uro- logical disorders. Urology combines ma n a g eme n t of medical (i.e. non- surgi cal ) problems such as urinary tract in- fections and be- nign prostatic hy- perplasia, as well as surgical prob- lems such as the surgical manage- ment of cancers, the correction of congenital ab- normalities, and correcting stress incontinence. Dr. Nickolisen received his medical training at the University of Iowa and completed his residency in urology at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Washington. Af- ter many years of practice in Lake Havasu, he moved to Goodyear, only to miss our area. Fortunately for La Paz, he chose to establish his practice a little further south this time.
