F������� 2, 2011 THE 23RD ANNUAL ARIZONA RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL Looking for an uplifting good time? Pinal County, AZ – It’s easy! Take a day trip out to the wildly popu- lar and entertaining Arizona Re- naissance Festival. The annual faire begins at 10 am every Satur- day, Sunday, and on Presidents’ Day Monday, from February 12th through April 3rd. Today’s audience wants to be more then spectators. They want to par- ticipate and be surrounded by their entertainment as they seek to escape the everyday world. At the Festival, the audience is a special guest in another place and time. This Festival transports visitors to an European style country fair fi lled with an agreeable rabble of knights, rogues, royalty and crafts- men, all roaming throughout a 30- acre charm fi lled village with 200 quaint shops, 12 stages of non-stop entertainment, an arena for full- contact armored jousting, kitchens, pubs, and people powered games and rides. All the Festival is a stage with a ���.D�����M��������.��� A popular attraction at the Festi- val is the live jousting tournaments held three times daily, complete with knights on charging horses, clanging weapons and a great deal of braggadocio. The 16th century Festival is home to many popular traditions includ- ing chomping down on a giant roasted turkey leg, and also fea- tures demonstrations of time hon- ored crafts such as weaving, glass blowing, blacksmithing and pot- tery throwing. A most special event within this giant event is The Pleasure Feast. This is a one and a half hour, fi ve course medieval feast with live mu- sic and comedy entertainment, all you can eat and drink, plus festival gifts and sou- venirs. With limited seating twice daily, advance feast reservations are recommended. cast featuring more than 2,000 brightly costumed actors, danc- ers, and musicians. These are the amazing people who populate this bustling fair to ensure a good time for the nearly 250,000 visitors who mingle into the endlessly wacky and unpredictable medieval may- hem. The Renaissance Festival experi- ence is meeting and interacting with these colorful characters, shopping for arts and crafts, and taking in a selection of over 150 shows every event day. There is a great variety of food for feasting, and a bevy of beverages including Medieval Mar- garitas, Da Vinci Coladas, Dukes of Daiquiri, wine, honey mead, beers and ales, along with soft drinks and lemonade. The team of Jerry Taylor and Henry Lucero bested the fi eld by shooting an 18 hole score of 40. Four teams were close on their heels one stroke back at 41. Those teams were Robert Webb & Jim Austin, Gary McGowan & Dean Harrington, Russ Leininger & John Johnson, and Pat Matlock and Linda Taylor. Finishing just out of the money at 42 were Bill Toner & Robert Barnard along with Richard Webb and Gary Pennington. Long drive of the day on hole 13 went to Jerry Taylor.
