Lou & Jan McCoy are the founders of the Gospel Opry located here in Quartz- site, held on Friday nights at Isaiah 58. They have also founded several other Opry’s in different states around the country. They have been in full time ministry as gospel music singers and evangelists for many years. Lou was diagnosed in May, 2010 with Squamus Cell Carcinoma, cancer of the left tonsil that had already spread to the lymph nodes. He also had a cough which the VA told us was caused by this cancer. At that time, the only pain he had was like a bad sore throat. The doctors wanted to do surgery to remove the tonsil with the tumor, then 35 radia- tion treatments to be followed by che- motherapy. They said this would “buy him some time.” The doctors would not operate unless Lou agreed to the prior WE‛RE NOW ONLINE! They felt if they only removed the tonsil/tumor the can- cer would spread more rapidly. Lou opted not to do the recommend- ed treatments, as the doctors described what he would be facing, such as be- ing placed on a feeding tube, loss of his voice box, and the list went on from there. Jan was in total agreement with Lou not to pursue the above treatments but instead, their decision was to do natural treatment therapies and trust God for his healing. This benefi t, being presented by many of their Quartzsite friends, is to raise funds to help them fi nancially with pursuing any natural treatments they choose and for any other fi nancial needs they may incur during this time. As you know, most natural treatments are not covered by Medicare, VA or Ins. and they are not cheap. Please come out for a great evening of gospel music, food and fellowship and plan to give your best monetary dona- tion to help support them through this crisis. They have so freely shared their wonderful talents with this community through the years and we want to hon- or them as we give them our love and fi nancial gifts on Saturday, Feb. 26 at the Gospel Opry, 100 S.
