P��� 36 ���.D�����M��������.��� F������� 2, 2011 New Chapter of VFW Riders Richard Aaron, Scholars’ Academy On January 8th [at the Hi Jolly Daze Parade] the newest chapter of the VFW Riders was stood up in Quartzite, Arizona. Borderline AZ chapter covers an area from Parker to Wellton. The mission of the VFW Riders (VFWR) is defi ned as National Resolution 308 from the 2010 National Convention & the Motorcycle Riders Groups policy let- ter signed by the Commander-in-Chief, Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States on September 14, 2010. 1) Promote & support the programs of the Vet- erans of Foreign Wars. 2) Promote motorcycle safety programs. 3) To provide a social atmosphere for VFW members who share he same interest. The VFWR is a motorcycle committee made up of members of the VFW & VFW Auxiliaries in good standing. They’re a group within the VFW that enjoys the pastime of motorcycling. They are an offi cial committee of the Department of Arizona VFW. Events that they participate in include fun runs, funeral escorts for veterans & active duty KIA’s, community service activities, parades, & fundrais- ing for VFW National Home for Children & other charities. Miles ridden for community service exceeded 107,221 from June 2009 to May 2010. The Borderline chapter will be planning a signature ride at some point this year to raise funds for homeless veterans in Arizona.
