Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Town Park The Quartzsite Business Chamber has sponsored the Annual “It’s Chili in Quartzsite” for the past 7 years. With the new changes in La Paz County Health Department rules, they decided to cancel. After talking with Tony Carnevale, of the Business Chamber, Town Council Member Jerry Lukkasson said, “We can’t let it just die! It’s one of the best events in Quartzsite! We’ll take it on!” This conversation happened during a meeting of the events committee of the Arizona Centennial of Quartzsite during the week before the Business Cham- ber’s Christmas Light Parade. The question was raised, “We who?” Lukkasson agreed to be the Chairperson if the committee agreed to sponsor it. So, with the cooperation of the Quartzsite Business Chamber, the Arizona Centennial Committee of Quartzsite took on another event! The committee needs lots of help to pull off this old/new Chili Cook Off! The C.A.S.I por- tion had already been cancelled, so it will be all open to People’s Choice! The theme this year is “Miner Style” for the Best of Theme Award to be award for the most cretive way of incorporating the them into the booth. There will also be a Salsa Contest and cooks can choose to participate in either chili, salsa or both. Get out your favorite recipes and get ready for some good tasting chili in Quartzsite!
