A neighbor and I went to Blythe, Calif. to do a little last minute shopping. Yes, the weather was nearly perfect and the traf- fic not too heavy. As usual we encoun- tered a couple of ill-mannered motorists and unruly kids, but overall the shopping went well; almost! Our last stop was Albertson’s for a few items that were on sale. The store was really bustling too; after all it’s Christmas, right? Well, we found all we wanted, got through the busy check-outs, and loaded the stuff in the car. We treated ourselves to a taco before leaving Blythe. The drive back to the beauti- ful and slower paced Quartzsite was uneventful. We thought we’d had a pretty suc- cessful trip; and it was…almost! After unloading, and separating our “boo- tie”, we discovered a bag of groceries was missing…mine! My friend called Albertson’s immediately. She asked for Blythe The Blythe Municipal Golf Course is located 5 miles Northwest of the City on the Mesa. It is surrounded by beautiful & serene mountain ranges. He asked for the clerk’s name and number that waited on us and went to that check stand. Right there they sat, my paid-for items. He said he would be glad to hold them for us, until we could go back. My friend said, “I don’t think so!” We’re already in Quartzsite. We can’t afford to make that trip twice for the items in that bag. And that was to be our Christmas Dinner! Mr. Bonsangue said, “No problem! If you can make it to Love’s Truck Stop in half an hour, I’ll bring them to you.” And he did! Wow! That sure made our Christmas, and restored my faith in humanity! God bless you, Peter Bonsangue! Cathy Mehta, BLM LTVA POSTAL FAULTY SYSTEM If you have experienced the problem of having no mail forwarded and you post office box being canceled, you are not alone. The US Postal Service has implemented a faulty system. In May of 2010 a new procedure for address changes including forwarding was implemented. All the request are now sent to a central area for input into the system. Notices are then sent to the local Post Offices where the request originated. Up until May each Post Office handled their own changes. The J 5, 2011 individual Post Offices such as Quartz- site are to receive these notifications and then update their records. Even though we received a confirmation of the change in the mail, the Post Office did not. In November when we returned to Quartzsite our Postmaster, Maribel, was most gracious in getting us our P O Box, that we had for 25 years, back to us even though it had been canceled. All of our summer mail was lost however. This same problem with forwarding happened again with our mail from Idaho. The Post Office did not have our change request even though I was able to take our copy of the change confirma- tion in to show them. This is a far bigger problem than just Quartzsite. Write to your Congressman, your Postmaster, and yes, the Postmas- ter General if you are experiencing the same lost letter,or box problem. The New System is not working. Sincerely, Freda and Gene Babbitt Quartzsite property owners “I’M GLAD OF IT!” I ask everyone concerned for the wel- fare of Quartzsite- its residents and visitors- to look beyond past grievances you may have had with each other and look at the bigger picture; that being to keep our home (either full time or part time) a safe town to be in, to keep utilities going, the town budget bal- anced, to be able to proudly say, “I live in Quartzsite” or “I visited Quartzsite” and “I’m glad of it”!  SEE LETTERS ON PAGE 6 The Pet Patio ~ Ray & Verna Maurer Come by and visit our booth located at Tyson Wells Space 21 Full line of nylon products and comfort harnesses, fleece coats, dog boots, doggles, etc. 661-428-3499 or 206-890-1696 Magne Shade The ultimate in RV sunscreens that installs in seconds!
